Purpose of the Role:
 

To plan, coordinate, supervise and control Treasury accounting sections to ensure accurate, timely and efficient processing, preparation of accounts and financial reports in accordance with the Corporation’s Accounting and Financial Management policies, regulations and procedures.
 
 
Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities (Key Performance Areas):
 
 

Supervises and controls the activities of the treasury control section, prioritises and allocates work and ensures compliance with deadlines and accounting procedures.

Ensures the accurate preparation and maintenance of cash books – ensures reconciliations with subsidiary books of accounts and records.

Checks bank reconciliations and resolves variances; liaises with banks on uncleared items.

Monitors banking of receipts and ensures that cash is banked daily.

Ensures that cash book entries have been posted accurately to general ledger and passes journal entries on adjustments.

Maintains register of RTD cheques and follows up payments.

Reconciles deposit suspense accounts and follows up with banks and sales offices.

Checks payment batches prior to posting and preparation of cheques/EFTs etc.

Ensures that remittance advice and other payment documentation is prepared timeously.

Liaises with banks to resolve queries and through general correspondence regarding the status of Air Botswana accounts.

Ensures that all Air Botswana bank accounts are adequately funded at all times.

Reconciles and analyses general ledger accounts.

Identifies staff training needs.

Liaises with banks when dealing for favourable exchange rates when making foreign currency payments.

 
 
Requirements
 
 
Minimum Education requirements
 
 

A recognized Degree in Finance, Accounting or Equivalent.

BICA membership required.

Relevant professional Qualification e.g. CA, ACCA or CIMA

 
 
Minimum Experience requirements
 
 

A minimum of six (6) years post graduate experience of which three (3) years should have been in a role in middle or management level.

Airline/Aviation experience will be an added advantage.
