\nMAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

\nTo provide strategic leadership in the management and coordination of the Research and Knowledge Business function.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nKEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Develops of Research and Knowledge Business policies, legislation, standards and strategies.
\nMonitors compliance to policies, legislation, standards and strategies for Research and Knowledge Business.
\nCoordinates development and review of research and Knowledge guidelines.
\nInterprets Research and Knowledge Business policies and legislation to stakeholders to guide national development.
\nConsults with stakeholders in the development and review of Research and Knowledge Business policies, legislation and strategies.
\nRepresent the Ministry in various fora on issues of National Research and Knowledge Business.
\nCoordinates development and implementation of the performance strategy and plan for Research and Knowledge Business function.
\nCoordinates adherence to implementation of the Research Agenda and set priority areas.
\nOversees development of effective Research Management Systems.
\nCoordinates the review and evaluation of implementation of research funding.
\nAdvocates for value addition and commercialisation of knowledge.
\nCoordinates monitoring and evaluation of Knowledge Management activities and implements corrective measures.
\nGuides the development and implementation of systems for creation, capturing, processing, storage and sharing of knowledge.
\nProvides oversight on knowledge generation, exchange and management in the National System of Innovation.
\nAdvocates for national promotion of science, technology and innovation to create awareness on the benefits of science.
\nAdvocates for promotion and safe use of nuclear technology through educational campaigns.
\nDetermines immediate and long term financial priorities for Research.
\nAdvocates for the development of the recurrent budget and development budget for the function.<\/p>\n

\nQUALIFICATIONS:
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nA Degree in Social Sciences or a related field. A professional qualification on Research Information Management or a post graduate qualification in Communication will be an added advantage.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nEXPERIENCE:
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nSixteen (16) years experience in Research or Knowledge Business or a related field of which two (2) should have been served as a Deputy Director or equivalent.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0

\nOptional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%).
\nGratuity paid at 30% of aggregate salary upon expiry of contract.
