Main Purpose of the Job:

\nAs a Mining Engineering Specialist, you will play a critical role in the strategic management and technical oversight of MDCB\u2019s mining investment portfolio. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the optimal deployment of resources and industry-leading practices to maximize portfolio performance.
\nYou will contribute to the conceptualization, planning, execution, and closure phases of the mineral development life cycle. You will work closely with stakeholders to identify and develop sustainable solutions, drive value optimization, and explore opportunities for value creation. Your expertise will contribute to making MDCB a leader in the minerals investment sector in Botswana.

\nKey Responsibilities:
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Strategic and Economic Initiatives: Work with various stakeholders to identify, conceptualize, and evaluate mining projects that align with strategic goals, focusing on optimizing operational efficiency and maximizing returns.
\nTechnical Due Diligence: Conduct comprehensive technical and financial assessments on potential mining investments, identifying risks, opportunities, and solutions to ensure informed and value-based decision-making.
\nAsset Optimization: Review both open pit and underground mine designs, production plans, and equipment selection to ensure these elements align with industry benchmarks and maximize investor returns.
\nCompliance & Reporting: Monitor mining project activities with internal and external regulations, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting. Provide updates on asset performance, technical developments, and investment progress.
\nInnovation: Champion research, assess, and recommend innovative technologies and processes to improve operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n

\nQualifications & Experience:

Bachelor\u2019s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field
\nAn advanced degree is an added advantage
\nProven experience in mineral asset valuation, risk management, and optimizing mining operations
\nExperience in both open pit and underground mining
\nExperience in the local and regional mining industry
\nMulti-commodity experience is an added advantage
\nRegistered professional engineer status is an added advantage
\nRegistration with a professional body<\/p>\n
