Main Purpose of the Job
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Responsible for senior-level decision making, day-to-day management and strategic direction for the efficient delivery of library services and resources to meet the information and documentation needs of the University and all stakeholders in accordance with professional ethics, library policies and procedures.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nKey Performance Areas
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Develop, lead and be accountable for research, development, review and implementation of library strategy, policy, plans, processes, procedures, guidelines and systems.<\/p>\n
Ensure a quality assurance function over the full life cycle of library resource management.<\/p>\n
Oversee acquisition, organization, and management of information resources to meet the needs of multiple learners and practitioners.<\/p>\n
Ensure effective integration of library services within the university\u2019s learning management system and other e-learning platforms.<\/p>\n
Promote and support open educational resources (OER) open science, and digital scholarship initiatives.<\/p>\n
Establish partnerships with relevant, regional, and international library networks and consortia.<\/p>\n

\nQualifications, Experience
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
At least a Masters in Library and Information Science or a related field from a recognized institution.<\/p>\n
PhD will be an added advantage.<\/p>\n
At least 10 years of progressive experience in academic libraries, with at least 5 years at senior management.<\/p>\n
Proven experience in digital library management and support of distance learning and e-learning.<\/p>\n
Knowledge of digital library technologies, metadata, repositories, and scholarly communication.<\/p>\n
Demonstrated leadership, management, and organizational skills.<\/p>\n
Demonstrable ability to lead and manage change.<\/p>\n
Experience in a higher education institution with a strong affiliation with emerging trends in library science (e.g., AI, metadata standards, discovery systems).<\/p>\n
