The role involves coordinating Safety and Health initiatives and offering onsite support for all Health and Safety matters across the organisation. Additionally, it is responsible for establishing, managing, and monitoring standards, processes, communications, training, and systems to ensure compliance with Health and Safety responsibilities throughout the organisation.

\nThe main duties include but are not limited to:
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Leads the development of a company-wide safety culture, ensuring buy-in from all stakeholders through continuous engagement, training, and reinforcement of safe work practices.<\/p>\n
Coordinates with local authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety laws, licenses, and permits.<\/p>\n
Implements digital systems or SHE software tools for real-time monitoring, reporting, and analysis of incidents, near-misses, and environmental impacts.<\/p>\n
Drives continuous improvement initiatives by benchmarking industry best practices and integrating innovative SHE approaches and technologies.<\/p>\n
Establishes and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) for SHE performance and provides regular reporting to senior management and relevant stakeholders.<\/p>\n
Leads emergency preparedness planning and business continuity processes, including scenario-based simulations and inter-departmental coordination.<\/p>\n
Oversees hazardous materials handling, storage, and disposal in line with environmental regulations and industry best practices.<\/p>\n
Champions sustainability initiatives, such as waste reduction, water conservation, energy efficiency, and pollution prevention efforts.<\/p>\n
Ensures contractor and vendor SHE compliance through audits, training, and enforcement of contractual SHE clauses.<\/p>\n
Develops and implements a behaviour-based safety (BBS) program to encourage employee accountability and peer-to-peer safety engagement.<\/p>\n
Implements wellness programs aimed at promoting employee physical and mental well-being as part of a holistic approach to workplace health.<\/p>\n
Provides regular SHE performance briefings to leadership and employee groups, encouraging feedback and participation in SHE programs.<\/p>\n
Ensures adequate provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety gear across all operational units.<\/p>\n
Leads root cause analysis (RCA) for major incidents to identify systemic failures and recommend corrective\/preventive actions.<\/p>\n
Manages the SHE document control system, ensuring all safety documentation is updated, distributed, and accessible as required.<\/p>\n

\nQualifications and Experience:
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree or equivalent in occupational health and safety. A Master\u2019s Degree would be an added advantage
\n3-4 years post qualification experience in Safety and Health function.
\nUnderstanding of environment and health and safety management systems.
\nPossession of a valid Class B Driver\u2019s License<\/p>\n
