Chef Trainee \u2013 6 Months Contract

\nKey Responsibilities
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\n* Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, cutting, portioning and serving for a range of events.
\n* Learn and follow standardised recipes and plating techniques to maintain consistency.
\n* Assist in assembling dishes and ensuring food presentation meets quality standards.
\n* Contribute to menu planning sessions and food tastings.
\n* Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and organisation of workstations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
\n* Follow proper food handling, storage and waste management practices.
\n* Adhere to HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and food safety protocols.
\n* Observe and assist the Senior Chef to understand various cooking styles and kitchen workflows.
\n* Participate in training sessions on culinary techniques, kitchen safety and food presentation.
\n* Stay updated on food industry trends, menu development, and new cooking methods.
\n* Assist in checking and receiving kitchen supplies and ingredients.
\n* Monitor stock levels (through regular inventory checks) and report shortages to the kitchen supervisor.
\n* Ensure proper labelling and rotation of food items to maintain freshness.
\n* Assist in special events, buffet setups and catering services as needed.

\nRequirements
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\n* A Certificate in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or a related field (preferred).
\n* Willingness to learn with a passion for food and creativity.
\n* Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety.
\n* Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible environment (including weekends, evenings and holidays) and adapt to kitchen demands.
\n* Strong teamwork and communication skills.<\/p>\n
