\nASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION \u2013 ONE POST
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nAccountable to the Head of Department, Agricultural Education & Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Faculty of Agribusiness, Education & Extension, the incumbent will be responsible for the following, among others:
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nJOB PURPOSE:
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\n\u2022 Provide academic leadership in the department and faculty which entails making original contributions to the discipline through research and\/or scholarship.
\n\u2022 Individually and collaboratively engages in teaching, research, academic leadership and development as well as services activities.
\n\u2022 Participate in the supervision of student research projects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
\n\u2022 Initiate the development of educational policies and\/or curriculum areas within the discipline, and maintenance of academic standards.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nREQUIREMENTS:
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\n\u2022 The candidates must meet the following minimum requirements, among others:
\n\u2022 A minimum of a PhD in Agricultural Education or related field from a recognized university.
\n\u2022 A Master\u2019s degree in Agricultural Education or related field from a recognized university.
\n\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in Agricultural Education or related field from a recognized university.
\n\u2022 Extensive publications in a wide array of quality publication outlets and refereed journals. A minimum of 12 research products, at least eight (8) of these are refereed journal articles reflecting a spread of national, regional and international journals.
\n\u2022 A minimum of five (5) years of lecturing experience in a university or equivalent should have served at a position of senior lecturer for at least three (3) years and has significant and original contribution to the discipline through research and\/or scholarship.
\n\u2022 Should have evidence of attraction of research grants from external sources.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0

\nFringe Benefits: Competitive package includes, medical aid, group life assurance scheme. In addition, permanent and pensionable staff are offered various housing purchase scheme, while contract staff are offered a gratuity of 30% of basic salary after successful completion of the contract.
\nMedical aid coverage: Pensionable employees have access to a medical aid scheme and employer contributes towards a minimum of 75% of pensionable employee\u2019s contribution towards the medical aid selected. Application to continue using the medical aid at personal expense upon resignation and on retirement in terms of the relevant regulations.
