\nADVERTISEMENT FOR AN INDEPENDENT TRUSTEE
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nThe Trustees of the Botswana Housing Corporation Staff Pension Fund (\u201cThe Fund\u201d) are in the process of appointing a qualified and experienced individual to serve on the Fund as an Independent Trustee.
\nThe Fund is a Defined Contribution pension fund which is registered and approved by the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) and the Botswana Unified Revenue Service.

\nThe qualification criteria in respect of the candidates for the above vacancies are as follows:
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\n\u2022 A degree, preferably a master\u2019s degree in Investment Management, Risk Management, Actuarial Science or equivalent qualifications such as Chartered Accountant, Chartered Finance Analyst and Fellow Risk Management;\u2022 Certificate\/Qualification in Retirement or Insurance;\u2022 Must have experience as a Trustee which is not limited to a certain field related to retirement funds;\u2022 A minimum of seven years\u2019 managerial experience in the financial service sector, preferably specific experience in retirement funds sector;\u2022 Basic knowledge of the NBFIRA Act, Retirement Funds Act, Trust Act and any other relevant Acts;\u2022 Must have sound knowledge of corporate governance;\u2022 Must have good communication skills as well as the required time and commitment to fulfil the role; and\u2022 Cannot be an employee, agent or shareholder to any service provider of\u2022 The sponsoring Employer, Botswana Housing Corporation and the Fund, including their subsidiaries and related entities.
\nThe duties and responsibilities of the Independent Trustee will be the same as those of the Trustees of the Fund, including the following:
\n\u2022 Inform the Regulatory Authority, in writing, of any information relating to the affairs of the Fund, which in their opinion may seriously prejudice the financial soundness of the Fund or its Members as soon as the Trustee becomes aware of any such information;\u2022 Act independently and exercise their powers in a manner that is impartial and not influenced by inappropriate considerations;\u2022 Ensure that the Fund is financially sound, responsibly managed and governed in accordance with its Rules and the applicable legislation; and\u2022 Ensure that adequate and appropriate information is communicated to the Members and beneficiaries informing them of their rights, duties and benefits in relation to the Fund.<\/p>\n
