\nVENTILATION OFFICER
\n\u00a0

\nBASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nThe primary role of the Ventilation Officer is to ensure the effective design, implementation, and maintenance of ventilation systems to safeguard the health and safety of underground mine personnel in an underground mining operation.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nCORE DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:
\n\u00a0
\nPerforming a variety of ventilation-related measurements and surveys, underground and on the surface.\u2022 Interpreting results of surveys and having the capability of taking immediate and post measurements actions where required.\u2022 Monitoring and analysing the performance of the existing ventilation systems.\u2022 Overseeing and reporting on assessments and construction works.\u2022 Ensuring that the airflow is sufficient to dilute and remove contaminants, such as dust, gases, and fumes, from the working areas.\u2022 Collecting data on air quality, temperature, humidity, and gas levels within the mine.\u2022 Analysing data to identify trends and potential issues in the ventilation systems.\u2022 Ensuring that the mine\u2019s ventilations system compiles with safety and environmental regulations.\u2022 Staying updated on the relevant industry standards and guidelines.

\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

\nDiploma in Mining Engineering.\u2022 Advanced Certificate in Mine Environmental Control.\u2022 Applicant must have a minimum of 4 years relevant experience in an underground mining environment.\u2022 Ability to work underground in difficult conditions for extended periods.\u2022 Ability to work productively independently and as part of a team as well as to work across all levels of the organisation.<\/p>\n
