\nBango Trading (Pty) Ltd is engaged in the construction and general maintenance of bitumen paved roads including new construction and surfacing works with its headquarters in Phakalane. The company urgently requires the services of the following personnel:

\nMATERIALS TECHNICIAN
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nMAIN DUTY: Responsible for conducting essential laboratory and field tests to ensure the quality and compliance of materials used in road construction projects, as well as
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Perform soil grading analysis to determine particle size distribution.<\/p>\n
Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure reliability and accuracy.<\/p>\n
Execute California Bearing Ratio (CBR) testing for subgrade strength evaluation.<\/p>\n
Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies in both laboratory and field settings.<\/p>\n
Perform field density tests using both the sand cone method and nuclear density gauge.<\/p>\n
Conduct Plasticity Index (PI) determination, liquid limit, and linear shrinkage tests to assess soil properties.<\/p>\n
Carry out Proctor tests to establish maximum dry density (MDD) and optimum moisture content (OMC).<\/p>\n
Undertake unconfined compressive strength (UCS) testing for soil and stabilized material samples.<\/p>\n
Conduct Marshall Stability tests on asphalt samples to evaluate strength and flow characteristics.<\/p>\n
Maintain accurate test records, prepare reports, and communicate findings to engineers and site management.<\/p>\n
Ensure all testing procedures comply with relevant standards (e.g., ASTM, BS, AASHTO, or local specifications).<\/p>\n
Execute any other morally reasonable assignments to meet the exigencies of service.<\/p>\n

\nCOMPETENCIES
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.<\/p>\n
Strong knowledge of international and local testing standards.<\/p>\n
Excellent record-keeping, reporting, and communication skills.<\/p>\n
Proficiency in handling soil, aggregate, and asphalt testing equipment.<\/p>\n
Ability to work independently and as part of a team under site conditions.<\/p>\n

\nQUALIFICATIONS:
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Diploma in Civil Engineering\/Highway Engineering or any related field<\/p>\n
Valid ERB Professional Engineering Technician practising certificate<\/p>\n
Valid Class B driver\u2019s license<\/p>\n
\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nExperience: Minimum of three (3) years in road construction works \u2013 specifically surfacing, reseals and\/or overlays.<\/p>\n
