Appointment to this position will be on five (5) years contract basis.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nVACANCY CIRCULAR NO: 3 OF 2025Vacancy: Director, Teacher Professional Services<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nRole Purpose<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nReporting to the Registrar, the successful candidate will be responsible to lead, direct, and oversee the Council\u2019s Teacher Professional Services function and facilitate teacher registration, licensing, continuous professional development and other teacher support services through established policies, standards, and regulations as part of Council\u2019s teacher professionalisation mandate.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nKey Performance Areas<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Availability and implementation of the Council strategy on Teacher Professionalisation<\/p>\n<p>Availability and maintenance of policy on Professional Qualifications for Teachers.<\/p>\n<p>Availability and maintenance of Professional Teaching Standards and Regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Availability of teaching accreditation requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Efficient registration of teachers<\/p>\n<p>Efficient licensing of teachers<\/p>\n<p>Efficient roll-out of Continuous Professional Development programmes and training.<\/p>\n<p>Readily available and up-to-date list of accredited programmes.<\/p>\n<p>Efficient and effective Teacher support services.<\/p>\n<p>Complete, accurate and up-to-date database of registered and licensed teachers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe main duties include but are not limited to:<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nStrategy and Leadership<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Oversee the formulation, review and implementation of relevant policies, strategies, rules, regulations, systems, and procedures that are meant to facilitate the delivery of the department\u2019s mandate.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate the efforts of respective departmental functions and assume accountability for teacher registration, licensing, and teacher development.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLicensing and registration<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Oversee the effective development, review and implementation of the registration and licensing framework, procedures, systems, and criteria for issuing, suspension and cancelation of registration and licenses.<\/p>\n<p>Manage and lead a team in the provision of advice, information and the registration and license transaction processing needs of the Council.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nContinuous Professional Development<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Liaise with the Strategy, Planning and Research and Teacher Professional Services functions on the development of the Teacher Training and Continuous Professional Development Framework.<\/p>\n<p>Facilitate the promotion of continuing education, training, and development of teachers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nStakeholder engagement<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Engage with the Ministry on any prevailing teacher registration and licensing documents and initiatives from the Ministry of Basic Education.<\/p>\n<p>Engagement with teacher representatives.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTeacher Support Services<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Oversee the establishment and implementation of teacher support services procedures on licensing, registration, accreditation, continuous professional development, and other professionalisation support requests.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nFinance, Human Capital, Risk<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Authorise departmental expenditure in accordance with financial policies and budgets.<\/p>\n<p>Lead departmental recruitment, selection, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, talent development, staff welfare and succession planning.<\/p>\n<p>Ensure that appropriate departmental risk management and internal controls effectively implemented.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nQualifications and Experience<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Postgraduate degree in Education, Social Sciences, Humanities or related field.<\/p>\n<p>A minimum of fifteen (15) years post qualification experience.
