The Sustainability & Impact Specialist plays a critical role in advancing the bank\u2019s mission to drive socio-economic transformation and economic diversification within Botswana. This position is responsible for integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into the bank\u2019s core operations and investment strategies, ensuring that financial activities generate measurable positive outcomes for the community and the environment.
\nThe successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of frameworks to assess, monitor, and report on the developmental impact of the bank\u2019s portfolio. This involves working closely with various departments to embed sustainability metrics into the lending lifecycle and ensuring alignment with both national development goals and international best practices.
\nAs part of the bank\u2019s ongoing digital transformation journey, the specialist will leverage data-driven insights to refine impact reporting and enhance transparency. Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Develop and maintain the bank\u2019s sustainability strategy and ESG risk management framework.
\nMonitor and evaluate the socio-economic impact of various projects and financial products.
\nCollaborate with the Operations and Innovation teams to digitize impact tracking and reporting processes.
\nPrepare comprehensive annual sustainability reports and internal ESG performance dashboards.
\nProvide technical guidance to the lending team on environmental and social compliance for project financing.
\nEngage with external partners and regulatory bodies to ensure the bank remains at the forefront of sustainable finance standards.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
A Bachelor\u2019s degree in Environmental Science, Economics, Sustainable Development, Finance, or a related field.
\nAt least 5 years of professional experience in ESG, corporate sustainability, or impact investment, preferably within the financial services sector.
\nStrong understanding of global sustainability frameworks such as the SDGs, GRI, or TCFD.
\nProven experience in conducting environmental and social risk assessments.
\nExcellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable impact reports.
\nStrong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
\nFamiliarity with the Botswana regulatory environment and socio-economic landscape.<\/p>\n
