The Compliance & Conduct Risk Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the National Development Bank (NDB) adheres to all statutory, regulatory, and ethical requirements. As the bank undergoes a significant digital transformation, this role ensures that innovation is balanced with robust risk management and integrity.
\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and monitoring compliance risks across all departments. By developing effective frameworks and policies, the hire will help safeguard the bank against financial, legal, and reputational damage while supporting the NDB\u2019s mission of driving economic diversification in Botswana.
\nThis position sits at the intersection of regulatory oversight and business strategy. Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance and conduct risk management framework aligned with NDB\u2019s strategic goals.
\nMonitor organizational activities to ensure adherence to the Bank of Botswana\u2019s regulations and internal policies.
\nConduct regular compliance risk assessments and audits across various business units.
\nProvide advisory support to the digital transformation team regarding regulatory requirements for new technologies.
\nManage the bank\u2019s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CFT) programs.
\nPrepare and submit detailed compliance reports to senior management and external regulatory bodies.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in Law, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
\nA minimum of 5 years of professional experience in compliance or risk management within the financial services sector.
\nProfessional certification in Compliance (e.g., ICA or CAMS) is highly preferred.
\nIn-depth knowledge of Botswana\u2019s banking regulations, including AML\/CFT and financial intelligence laws.
\nStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory documents.
\nExcellent communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement.<\/p>\n
