The National Development Bank (NDB) is seeking a dedicated Financial Crime Analyst to join its professional team during an exciting period of digital transformation. This role is central to safeguarding the bank\u2019s integrity and ensuring that its activities continue to drive socio-economic transformation and economic diversification within Botswana in a secure and compliant manner.
\nAs a Financial Crime Analyst, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with money laundering, terrorist financing, and other fraudulent activities. You will play a key role in maintaining the bank\u2019s reputation by ensuring that all operations align with both local regulatory requirements and international best practices.
\nThis position fits within the bank\u2019s broader risk and compliance framework, supporting the institution as it adopts new digital tools and processes. You will work closely with various departments to embed a culture of vigilance and to ensure that the bank\u2019s growth is supported by robust financial crime prevention strategies.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Perform thorough Know Your Customer (KYC) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) reviews on new and existing clients.
\nMonitor and analyze daily transactions to identify suspicious patterns or activities that may indicate financial crime.
\nPrepare and file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and other required documentation to the Financial Intelligence Agency.
\nAssist in the implementation and enhancement of financial crime prevention policies and digital monitoring systems.
\nConduct regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities within the bank\u2019s operational processes.
\nStay abreast of emerging trends in financial crime and provide advisory support to internal stakeholders.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
A Bachelor\u2019s degree in Finance, Law, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, or a related field.
\nA minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial crime investigation, AML\/CFT compliance, or risk management within the banking sector.
\nIn-depth knowledge of Botswana\u2019s Financial Intelligence Act and other relevant local and international financial regulations.
\nStrong analytical and investigative skills with a keen eye for detail and patterns.
\nProficiency in using specialized risk management and transaction monitoring software.
\nRelevant professional certification (e.g., CAMS or equivalent) is highly desirable.
\nExcellent communication skills with the ability to draft comprehensive investigative reports.<\/p>\n
