Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Oversee financial management and governance across licensed business units, ensuring effective financial control and compliance.
\nPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including management accounts and statutory financial statements
\nEnsure compliance with applicable accounting standards, including IFRS 17 and other relevant regulatory frameworks
\nReview actuarial valuations and ensure appropriate financial reporting of insurance contract liabilities
\nSupport the implementation and ongoing management of IFRS 17 models and disclosures
\nEnsure alignment between actuarial outputs and financial reporting
\nCoordinate the preparation and consolidation of financial information to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes
\nProvide financial information and insights to support planning and resource allocation
\nMonitor expenditure against approved budgets and investigate variances
\nAdvise management on cost optimisation and efficiency improvements
\nLiaise with external and internal auditors, ensuring timely completion of statutory and internal audits, and resolution of audit findings
\nEnsure timely submission of audit requirements and resolution of audit findings
\nMaintain compliance with regulatory requirements and internal governance frameworks
\nSupport tax compliance processes, including VAT, corporate tax, and statutory returns

\nMonitor receivables and implement strategies to minimise credit risk and improve cash flow
\nOversee reinsurance payables and receivables, reconcile balances to resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with industry-specific accounting and reporting standards.

Requirements<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent accounting qualifications.
\nFull membership to professional accounting institution ( ACCA, CIMA, CA).
\nCOP \u2013 Basics of Long-Term Insurance
\nIndividual must be in good standing with the Botswana Institute of Chatered Accountants (BICA).
\nMinimum 5 years post qualifications experience with atleast 3 years experience in a simillar role
\nStrong working knowledge of IFRS, with practical exposure to IFRS 17 highly desirable
\nExperience within the financial services or insurance industry is preferred
