UMS Botswana Pty Ltd (a division of the UMS Group) is busy with an underground vertical shaft sinking project with JDS Energy & Mining Inc. (the EPCM contractor) for Lucara Botswana (Pty) Ltd at the Karowe Diamond Mine at Letlhakane in the Boteti sub-district. This exciting project is currently in the Main Sink contract phase. Shaft sinking and underground construction activities require critical skills and experience with an expert understanding of sinking methodologies, underground construction, mine health and safety, as well as contract management knowledge, which is essential. We are currently searching for suitably qualified and experienced candidates to be considered for the below positions in Letlhakane. Please note that all positions are project based.
\nThe Shaft Sinking Project Manager has the overall responsibility for ensuring that the project in its entirety performs in line with all project, commercial and technical contractual undertakings. This candidate will report to the JDS Project Manager and the UMS Group Executive for Projects.<\/p>\n

A relevant tertiary and sinking qualification such as Mine Managers Certificate of Competency.
\nCertificate of Competency, such as a Blasting Certificate of Competence as providing the relevant government.
\nThe relevant Manager\u2019s Certificate to ensure legal appointments can be carried out looking for the role.
\nCompetent in NEC 3 and FIDIC contracts with proven knowledge and experience.
\nMinimum of 10 years\u2019 experience at managing a Shaft Sinking and Underground Construction Project.
\nProven project management experience.<\/p>\n
