The position holder is responsible for shaping the teaching and learning, research priorities, and management of the Faculty operations.<\/p>\n<p>Job Summary<br \/>\nKey Responsibilities<br \/>\nRequirements<br \/>\nSalary<br \/>\nHow to Apply<\/p>\n<p>Job Summary<\/p>\n<p>Type: contract<br \/>\nLocation: Gaborone<br \/>\nCategory: Education<br \/>\nClosing Date: 2026-06-03<\/p>\n<p>Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>To contribute to the development of the University\u2019s strategy, policies, processes and procedures<br \/>\nDevelop and lead the execution of a comprehensive faculty strategic plan, policies and procedures in line with the University\u2019s overall goals.<br \/>\nMonitor and evaluate the performance of Faculty operations against established goals and objectives, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending corrective action as needed.<br \/>\nDrive strategic initiatives to enhance academic excellence, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.<br \/>\nPromote a culture of service excellence, manage resources effectively and drive change where necessary in order to build the reputation of the Faculty.<br \/>\nEnsure the development and delivery of high-quality academic programmes that meet accreditation standards and respond to the needs of students<br \/>\nFoster a culture of continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and assessment practices.<br \/>\nLead the faculty\u2019s research agenda, encouraging a culture of research excellence and impactful contributions to knowledge<br \/>\nAdvance research initiatives and foster innovation.<br \/>\nStrengthen university outreach and service initiatives in support of becoming an engaged university.<br \/>\nPrioritize student success by fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.<br \/>\nDevelopment and lead the implementation on initiatives to enhance student engagement, retention, and overall academic experience.<br \/>\nCultivate and strengthen relationships with external stakeholders, including industry partners, government agencies, and community organizations.<br \/>\nRepresent the faculty in key academic and professional forums.<br \/>\nAdvocate for the faculty\u2019s interests and contributions at the university and broader community levels.<br \/>\nProvide excellent customer services ensuring client and stakeholder satisfaction.<br \/>\nResolve customer enquiries and issues in a timely and efficient manner.<br \/>\nIdentify and address areas of improvement for customer and stakeholder experience<br \/>\nDevelop and manage the faculty risk register with clear mitigation strategies.<br \/>\nCoordinate and support internal and external faculty audits as per the university policy.<br \/>\nAddress audit findings and recommendations to improve processes and controls<br \/>\nEnsure faculty compliance to legislative and statutory requirements<br \/>\nCollaborate with the legal and compliance departments to address legal and regulatory issues<br \/>\nProvide leadership in recruiting, mentoring, and retaining a diverse and accomplished faculty<br \/>\nCoordinate and support internal and external faculty audits as per the university policy<br \/>\nAddress audit findings and recommendations to improve processes and controls<br \/>\nEnsure faculty compliance to legislative and statutory requirements<br \/>\nCollaborate with the legal and compliance departments to address legal and regulatory issues.<br \/>\nProvide leadership in recruiting, mentoring, and retaining a diverse and accomplished faculty.<br \/>\nSupport professional development initiatives to enhance teaching, research, and leadership capabilities.<br \/>\nEngage and discipline staff I accordance with defined human resources management policies and procedures and prevailing labor laws<br \/>\nDevelop and manage the faculty budget<br \/>\nRecommend expenditure in accordance with delegated limits<br \/>\nIdentify opportunities to generate additional revenue and \/or funding for the faculty.<br \/>\nPrudently manage faculty costs highlighting clear return on investments for the university<br \/>\nUndertake any other duties as directed by the supervisor<\/p>\n<p>Requirements<\/p>\n<p>A minimum of PhD\/Doctorate in relevant discipline. A relevant Master\u2019s degree or fellowship in the area of discipline is mandatory.<br \/>\nA minimum of ten (10) years\u2019 experience in teaching, research, governance and social engagement experience in a higher institution re required.<br \/>\nMust have served a minimum of three (3) years as Head of School\/Deputy Dean or their equivalent.<br \/>\nMember of recognized professional body<br \/>\nSubstantial academic leadership experience, preferably in a university setting<br \/>\nStrong record of scholarly achievements and research<br \/>\nDemonstrated success in strategic planning and implementation<br \/>\nExcellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills<br \/>\nCommitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion<br \/>\nFinancial acumen and budget management experience<\/p>\n<p>Salary<br \/>\nCompetitive salary and benefits<br \/>\nHow to Apply<br \/>\nHow to apply: letters of applications are to address the stated qualifications and provide any other information to assist the University to determine the applicants\u2019 suitability for the position.
