Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Coordinates the development, review, and implementation of the Diamond Beneficiation Strategy in alignment with the Minerals Policy and Government national development priorities.
\nDevelops and implement strategies for diamond marketing, promotion, and investment attraction to enhance Botswana\u2019s position as a global diamond centre.
\nProvides strategic guidance to enhance the competitiveness, resilience, and long-term sustainability of Botswana\u2019s downstream diamond industry.
\nOversees market intelligence pertaining to the global and local diamond industry to inform strategic decision-making and policy formulation.
\nManages and oversees the issuance, administration, and monitoring of licences, permits, and authorisations relating to diamond processing, trading, and export activities within and outside Botswana.
\nCoordinates process and systems to ensure adherence to the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme and other supervisory and regulatory requirements governing diamond trade.
\nEvaluates the competitiveness, profitability, and sustainability of Botswana\u2019s downstream diamond industry, including benchmarking against global diamond centres and reviewing downstream companies\u2019 business plans, financial statements, and performance data.
\nManages and responds to stakeholder, investor, and customer enquiries and queries related to the diamond industry, including investment opportunities, regulatory requirements, and operational processes.
\nDevelops strategies for optimal and sustainable value chain development in the Diamond Industry.
\nFacilitates the establishment and operationalisation of diamond businesses, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to enhance investor convenience and improve the ease of doing business within the diamond sector.
\nUndertakes any other related duties as may be assigned by management.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
Salary Scale: F2 (P607,440) per annum
\nLeave: 30 working days per annum
\nBenefits: Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government Contributes 50% and employee 50%).
\nDuration: 2 \u2013 3 years\u2019 contract.
\nQualifications: Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Mining\/Metallurgy\/Chemical\/Geology or Mineral Economics or Marketing or related fields. Master\u2019s Degree qualifications in Business Administration\/Mineral Economics\/Marketing\/Strategic Management will be an added advantage.
\nExperience: At least Eighteen (18) years\u2019 experience in the mines and minerals industry or related field, two (2) years of which should have been served at E1 salary scale or equivalent in the Private Sector or Parastatal.
