Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Provide an independent appraisal and risk assessment of the effectiveness of the policies, procedures and standards by which the organization\u2019s financial, physical, systems and information resources are managed.
\nManage the Internal Audit functionality, coordinating the specific processes to support the formulation of the audit plan and programme, monitoring compliance and conducting investigations to determine the extent of variation or non-conformance to statutory requirements, policies and procedures, preparing and presenting comments and opinions and provide guidance on the interpretation of principles to enable re-alignment of functions and responsibilities ensuring the activities are conducted and concluded in a credible manner.
\nAppraisal of system of internal controls
\nTest for compliance
\nDevelop and implement the annual audit plan
\nDevelop audit programs and working papers
\nEnsure audits are conducted with International Standards for Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
\nReview of financial information to ensure compliance with IFRS\/IAS
\nTest for transactions to determine whether they make business sense
\nRisk Governance and Strategic Alignment, assessing the adequacy, effectiveness and maturity of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, including risk governance structures, policies and reporting processes.
\nEvaluate whether risks are systematically identified, assessed, prioritised and mitigated across strategic, operational, financial, compliance, IT and emerging risk categories.
\nProvide independent advice to the Board on emerging, strategic, systemic and cross cutting risks, including governance, financial sustainability, cyber, regulatory, ESG and reputational risks.
\nRisk-Based Internal Audit Planning \u2013 develop, maintain and implement a risk-based, rolling Internal Audit Plan, informed by the Organisation\u2019s strategy, risk register, risk appetite and emerging risk profile.
\nPresent the annual Internal Audit Plan to the Audit Committee for approval, clearly articulating risk rationale and coverage and continuously update the audit plan to reflect changes in the risk environment, organisational strategy or external factors.
\nEnsure alignment between audit activities and the Organisation\u2019s risk appetite and strategy.
\nAdvice on risks
\nTest for compliance with health and safety
\nAdvice on health and safety issues
\nEnsure quality assurance in performance of audit reviews
\nMaintain Quality Assurance & Improvement Program (QAIP) for the internal Audit function.
\nPeriodically review audit processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
\nReport to Audit Committee and Board on the state of internal control
\nCarry out any special assignments and investigations as requested or directed by Senior Management and the Board.
\nManaging the Internal Audit Department
\nProviding supervision, guidance, and training to the Internal Audit team.
\nManaging relationships with external stakeholders<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in Accounting and\/or Auditing or related field
\nPostgraduate certification in Audit such as IIA
\nProfessional stage of an internationally recognised Institute of Accountants or Auditors (ACCA, CIMA, CIA). Ten (10) years\u2019 experience in auditing medium to large scale operations, five (5) of which should have been spent at senior management level.
\nInternal Audit Operational Plans and Programmes implemented

\nAccounting, financial and operating controls adequately applied
\nAdherence to approved budget
\nAdherence to audit and quality standards
