The Community Engagement\/Mobilization coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the community engagement and demand generation programs to build strong relationships with communities, stakeholders, and partners in a way that supports program implementation. The coordinator will lead area program offices\u2019 effort to mobilize and engage with community members, community leaders and other community structures, raise awareness about key initiatives, and ensure active participation in programs aimed at improving sexual reproductive health of the community.<\/p>\n

Key Roles and responsibilities:

\nCommunity Engagement & Mobilization<\/p>\n
Develop and implement strategies to address socio-cultural and gender-based barriers to family planning and SRH services
\nCoordinate community based SBCC activities, social mobilizations, meetings, awareness campaigns.
\nCoordinate the collaborate with community and religious leaders, organizations, and stakeholders to foster partnerships and encourage participation
\nCoordinate household visits, focus group discussions, and public forums to gather insights on community needs
\nDevelop gender-sensitive, culturally appropriate IEC\/BCC materials on SRH, adolescent SRH, family planning, and harmful traditional practices in local languages<\/p>\n
Advocacy & Capacity Building<\/p>\n
Develop standardized tools to train community volunteers, peer educators, and local champions to promote SRH, adolescent SRH and family planning.
\nCoordinate and advocate for community-driven solutions and empower local groups to take ownership of projects.
\nIdentify and address cultural and social barriers that may hinder program acceptance and participation.<\/p>\n
Monitoring & Reporting<\/p>\n
Coordinates area program offices to gather community feedback and assess the impact of community engagement activities.
\nMaintain accurate records of meetings, events, and community participation.
\nPrepare reports and success stories to document lessons learned and best practices.<\/p>\n
Collaboration & Communication<\/p>\n
Coordinate with program teams, government agencies, NGOs, and local partners to align community engagement efforts.
\nDevelop IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) materials for community awareness.
\nServe as the primary link between the organization and the community, ensuring timely and transparent communication.<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Experience:
\nEducation:<\/p>\n
Master\u2019s degree in public with specialty in health education and behavior, General Public Health, Social Work, Social Sciences, or a related field.
\nAt least 5 years of directly relevant experience in community engagement, advocacy, mobilization, demand creation, and leading the production of IEC\/BCC strategies and materials.<\/p>\n
Technical Skills:<\/p>\n
SBCC Tool Development: Relevant technical, practical, and conceptual understanding of developing Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) tools focusing on:
\nSexual and Reproductive Health (SRH)
\nFamily Planning (FP)
\nSocial and Gender barriers to SRH services
\nAdolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH)
\nCommunity Engagement: Relevant experience in conducting and coordinating community engagement programs.<\/p>\n
Cultural Knowledge:<\/p>\n
Strong knowledge of local cultures, traditions, and social dynamics in the target community.
\nExperience:
\nExperience working with NGOs, government programs, or development initiatives is an advantage.<\/p>\n
Skills & Competencies:<\/p>\n
Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate and interact with various stakeholders. Proficiency in local languages is an added advantage.
\nFacilitation Experience: Experience in facilitating community meetings, trainings, and dialogues.
\nRelationship Building: Ability to build trust and relationships with diverse groups.
\nStrong organizational and project management skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
\nProblem-Solving and conflict resolution Skills: Capable of handling challenges in fieldwork and finding solutions.
\nMonitoring & Evaluation: Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting techniques.
\nProficiency in using social media and digital communication tools
\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team<\/p>\n
Work Conditions:<\/p>\n
Frequent Travel: Regular field visits and travel to both rural and urban communities.
\nFlexible Hours: Working hours may vary depending on community schedules and program needs.
