The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), re-established by proclamation No. 1133\/2011, is the constitutionally mandated body to conduct elections, organize referendum and regulate political parties in Ethiopia. NEBE is working to boost its\u2019 institutional strength with a special focus on enhancement of human resource capacity. \nJob Summary
\nThe Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of NEBE\u2019s fleet of vehicles to ensure their safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation. The role also involves conducting regular vehicle inspections, diagnosing mechanical issues, and performing preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance the efficiency of NEBE\u2019s transportation services.
\nDuties and responsibilities<\/p>\n
Maintenance and Repairs
\nPerform routine maintenance and repairs on NEBE vehicles, including engine, transmission, braking systems, electrical systems, and other components.
\nRespond promptly to vehicle breakdowns to minimize disruption to NEBE operations.
\nPreventive Maintenance
\nDevelop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all vehicles in coordination with the Fleet Management Unit.
\nConduct regular inspections to identify potential mechanical issues and address them proactively.
\nDiagnostics and Troubleshooting
\nDiagnose mechanical and electrical problems using appropriate tools and equipment.
\nProvide accurate assessments of vehicle conditions and recommend necessary repairs or replacements.
\nRecord Keeping
\nMaintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and labor hours.
\nUpdate vehicle service history to ensure compliance with NEBE standards.
\nProcurement Support
\nAssist in identifying required spare parts and tools, and coordinate with relevant personnel for their procurement.
\nEnsure proper inventory management of tools and spare parts.
\nCompliance and Safety
\nAdhere to safety protocols and guidelines during all maintenance and repair activities.
\nEnsure all vehicles meet NEBE\u2019s safety and operational standards.
\nTeam Collaboration
\nWork closely with drivers to understand vehicle performance and address reported issues.
\nCoordinate with other General Service Department staff to align vehicle maintenance with organizational needs.<\/p>\n
About You<\/p>\n
Education andWork Experience:<\/p>\n
BA degree in Automotive Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
\nA minimum of 3 years of experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, preferably within.<\/p>\n
Know-How (Skills) (Technical competencies):<\/p>\n
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
\nFamiliarity with modern diagnostic tools and equipment.
\nKnowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
\nNot a member of a political party.<\/p>\n
Behavioural competencies:<\/p>\n
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
\nGood communication and teamwork abilities.
\nAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
