We are a results-oriented organization committed to implementing efficient, effective, and sustainable charitable interventions across Ethiopia.<br \/>\nCurrently, PAD is undertaking a major scale-up of its programs, with a focus on urban destitution, peacebuilding and democratization, child protection, youth development, support for migrant returnees, health, and livelihood development. We are also implementing humanitarian projects, including Shelter and Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), targeting low-income and vulnerable women, children, youth, and adults.<br \/>\nAs part of this expansion, PAD is extending its operations to several regions, including Addis Ababa, Tigray, Amhara, Oromia, Harari, and the Somali, South Regional State.<br \/>\nPAD would like to hire a qualified professional for the project implemented in Partnership with IRC and donated by the German Postcode Lottery<br \/>\nMain Responsibilities:<br \/>\nUnder the supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Nutrition Officer will lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of community-based nutrition interventions in 33 kebeles of Mieso Woreda. The officer will provide technical guidance to Community Development Facilitators (CDFs) and ensure alignment with national nutrition guidelines and protocols.<br \/>\nSpecific responsibilities include the following:<\/p>\n<p>Lead implementation of community-based nutrition activities, including MIYCN, GMP, CMAM screening, and referral services.<br \/>\nSupervise, mentor, and provide technical support to CDFs and Community Nutrition Volunteers (CNVs) during outreach and household-level activities.<br \/>\nEnsure timely and quality growth monitoring and promotion (GMP) services for children under five, including regular weight and MUAC measurement.<br \/>\nSupport active screening for acute malnutrition among children under five and pregnant\/lactating women (PLW) and ensure linkage to OTP\/SC\/IYCF services.<br \/>\nOversee and participate in community sensitization and behavior change sessions focusing on optimal IYCF, dietary diversity, and WASH practices.<br \/>\nFacilitate monthly family dialogue sessions, mother-to-mother support groups, and community nutrition days in collaboration with CNVs.<br \/>\nWork with health facilities and MHNT teams to ensure effective referral and follow-up of malnutrition cases.<br \/>\nMonitor the availability and use of anthropometric tools, job aids, and IYCF counseling materials.<br \/>\nConduct joint supportive supervision and mentoring of HEWs and CNVs in collaboration with woreda health offices.<br \/>\nCollect, compile, and validate monthly nutrition reports from CDFs, ensuring timely submission with both data and narrative updates.<br \/>\nContribute to capacity-building efforts, including organizing and facilitating training for CDFs and CNVs.<br \/>\nParticipate in nutrition assessment surveys, rapid appraisals, and emergency nutrition response planning.<br \/>\nEnsure implementation of the project is aligned with national guidelines (CMAM, IYCF, GMP, etc.) and project indicators.<br \/>\nIdentify key nutrition challenges and gaps and propose corrective actions to the Project Coordinator.<br \/>\nBuild strong working relationships with woreda health offices, health facilities, and other partners for improved service integration and coordination.<br \/>\nPromote community ownership of nutrition activities and work with local structures to ensure sustainability.<br \/>\nUphold standards of confidentiality, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism during service delivery.<br \/>\nPerform any other nutrition-related tasks assigned by the Project Coordinator to enhance project impact.<br \/>\nMHNT services.<\/p>\n<p>Number required: one<br \/>\nSalary: As per the organization\u2019s Salary Scale<br \/>\nDuty Station: Oromia Region, West Hararghe Zone, Mieso<br \/>\nEmployment type: contract<br \/>\nFemale applicants are encouraged to apply<br \/>\nEqual Employment Opportunity<br \/>\nPositive Action for Development (PAD) promotes fairness, equity, and diversity in the workplace. If you receive any suspicious messages claiming to be from PAD, please report them to our office through official contact channels. www.padethiopia.org<br \/>\nAbout You<\/p>\n<p>Qualification: Bachelor\u2019s degree in Public Health, Health Officer, Nursing or Nutrition from a recognized institution with a valid professional License<br \/>\nWork Experience:<\/p>\n<p>Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in health and nutrition programs, preferably in a community-based setting.<br \/>\nProven experience in implementing CMAM, MIYCN, GMP, or similar community nutrition interventions.<br \/>\nExperience working in low-resource, rural, or emergency-affected areas is highly desirable.<\/p>\n<p>Technical Skills:<\/p>\n<p>Strong knowledge of national nutrition guidelines and protocols.<br \/>\nSkilled in community mobilization, supportive supervision, and capacity-building of health workers and CNVs.<br \/>\nCompetent in nutrition data collection, analysis, and reporting.<br \/>\nFamiliarity with tools such as MUAC tapes, anthropometric equipment, and nutrition screening registers.<\/p>\n<p>Communication and Language:<\/p>\n<p>Excellent communication skills and fluency in the local language are required.<br \/>\nWorking knowledge of English for reporting and documentation.<\/p>\n<p>Other Requirements:<\/p>\n<p>Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.<br \/>\nWillingness to travel frequently to hard-to-reach kebeles.<br \/>\nGood understanding of cultural contexts and sensitivity in community engagement.<br \/>\nBasic computer skills (Word, Excel, email\/internet).<br \/>\nMotorbike riding skill is a plus (with a valid license preferred).<br \/>\nteam setting with flexibility and cultural sensitivity.<\/p>\n<p>Application Process<br \/>\nInterested candidates must send the following application documents with the subject line, Nutrition Officer Mieso<br \/>\nMotivation\/Cover letter (not more than one page);<br \/>\nIt is highly recommended to include your salary expectations and current salary in the application letter.<br \/>\nCV (not more than 4 pages) and relevant documents (education certificates, experience, and others) (Please note that the certificates and CV should be in one single file.)
