\nPosition Summary
\nThe Finance Manager plays a critical leadership role in overseeing and strengthening TRI\u2019s financial operations. This includes designing and implementing financial systems and procedures, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, conducting financial planning and reporting, and supporting strategic organizational goals. The Finance Manager will work closely with leadership to promote financial transparency and sustainability, and serve as the primary contact for external stakeholders on financial matters.
\nKey Result Areas: The success of this role is measured by key result areas which are listed below:
\n1. Ensure effective planning, execution, and monitoring of the organization\u2019s financial resources.
\n2. Ensure all financial reports meet donor requirements and are submitted timely.
\n3. Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.
\n4. Strengthen the finance team and promote financial literacy across the organization.
\n5. Ensure full compliance with Ethiopian financial laws, tax obligations, and NGO regulatory requirements.
\nKey Roles and Responsibilities
\n1. Lead and oversee day-to-day financial operations under the direction of the Director of Operations and National Director.
\n2. Develop and refine financial management policies, procedures, and internal control systems.
\n3. Maintain up-to-date and accurate financial records, including donor agreements, staff contracts, and other financial documentation.
\n4. Prepare, review, and monitor organizational and project budgets; advise on appropriate and strategic expenditures.
\n5. Generate timely and accurate financial reports monthly, quarterly, and annually highlighting expenditures, variances, fund balances, and project status.
\n6. Coordinate external audits and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements including tax filings and government reports.
\n7. Administer inventory and asset management; ensure effective tracking and utilization of resources.
\n8. Support the development of project proposals by contributing financial forecasts and budget inputs.
\n9. Ensure efficient and compliant fund transfers and procurement processes.
\n10. Review and reconcile accounts, validate fund balances, and conduct regular financial checks.
\n11. Provide financial orientation and training for staff on budgeting and cost-effective management.
\n12. Oversee procurement procedures and supervise store and property maintenance.
\n13. Manage staff benefit payments, personnel files, contracts, time-sheets, and reimbursements.
\n14. Conduct regular verification of store inventories and update the organizational asset list.
\n15. Perform any other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n
About You<\/p>\n
Required Qualifications and Experience
\nEducation:
\n\u25cf Bachelor\u2019s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; a masters in Finance and Accounting or related field, international certification in finance and accounting or a certificate in project management will be considered as additional advantages.
\nExperience:
\n\u25cf Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial management, including at least 2 years with an international NGO.
\n\u25cf Proven skills in budgeting, financial analysis, and audit coordination.
\n\u25cf Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with an ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
\n\u25cf Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and fostering collaboration.
\n\u25cf Familiarity with computerized accounting systems and operations management software.
\nSkills and Competence
\n\u25cf Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
\n\u25cf Experience with Google Workspace is an advantage.
\n\u25cf Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Amharic; knowledge of Afan Oromo is desirable.
\n\u25cf Proficiency in accounting softwares such as peachtree
\n\u25cf Advanced spreadsheet and database management capabilities.
\n\u25cf Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
\n\u25cf Demonstrated integrity and high ethical standards.
\nTravel Requirements: Frequent travel to field offices and project implementation sites is required.
