\nDevelopment for Peace Organization (DPO) is an Ethiopian non-profit organization established in 2020 with a mission of striving to meet the humanitarian and developmental needs of societies regardless of race, color, religion or cultural background. We are legally registered to work in Ethiopia (Reg. 5164) as National NGO and as INGO in South Sudan (Reg. 4178), Somalia (Reg. NGOD\/Moifar0422\/022) and Kenya (OP.218\/051\/22-400\/12732); it is also processing its registration in Yemen. We are currently seeking an experienced Laboratory Technologists\/Technician to join our mission-driven organization.
\nJob summary:
\nThe Laboratory Technologist\/Technician plays a crucial role in supporting patient diagnosis and treatment. He\/she will perform a comprehensive range of laboratory examinations, such as hematology, parasitology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis etc. He\/she will also be responsible in collecting, processing, analyzing, and interpreting patient specimens.
\nThe Laboratory Technologist\/Technician will also adhere to strict quality assurance and control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of these test results.
\nDuties and Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Conduct a comprehensive range of clinical laboratory examinations, including hematology, parasitology, urinalysis, and clinical microscopy. This encompasses specimen collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation of results.
\nAdheres to quality assurance and quality control procedures in performing all testing.
\nEnsure the quality and accuracy of laboratory results through meticulous quality assurance and control processes.
\nMaintain peak performance of laboratory equipment by performing inspections, preventive maintenance, calibrations, and proficiency testing.
\nSpecimens are checked as to their condition, acceptability and appropriateness to the test and exceptions are noted.
\nManage all aspects of reagents, including initiating the need for procurement, inventory control, proper storage, and accuracy verification.
\nImplement and manage a laboratory information management system (LIMS) \u2013 paper-based or electronic \u2013 to efficiently track and document laboratory procedures and results.
\nCorrelates clinical information and\/or previous lab results and reports discrepancies to supervisors and other appropriate personnel.
\nWrites and updates laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory tests, ensuring consistency and compliance with regulatory standards under supervision as required.
\nAll critical values are reported promptly to the physician and charge nurse.
\nDoes not report patient results unless quality control data are within accepted parameters
\nShares call duty and works different shifts as required. Must be able to work extended hours when necessary.
\nKeeps an adequate supply of working materials on hand.
\nPerform related duties and responsibilities as required.<\/p>\n

Qualifications:<\/p>\n
Education: Diploma or Bachelor degree in Laboratory Technology or in Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited Institution\/university and also has an active certificate\/License to practice in Ethiopia.
