The role ensures financial integrity, compliance with legal and contractual obligations, and efficiency in resource utilization, with particular focus on construction projects, procurement, and contract management.
\nKey Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Audit & Compliance<\/p>\n
Develop and implement a risk-based internal audit plan covering finance, operations, procurement, project management, and HR.
\nEnsure compliance with company policies, construction contracts, Ethiopian laws, and international accounting standards.
\nReview tax, payroll, and statutory obligations for accuracy and timely filing.<\/p>\n
Financial Oversight<\/p>\n
Verify accuracy of accounting records, payments, and project expenditures.
\nMonitor advance payments, mobilization costs, and subcontractor settlements.
\nConduct periodic cash, bank, and inventory reconciliations.<\/p>\n
Project & Operational Audits<\/p>\n
Review project cost estimates, budgets, and actual expenditures to detect variances.
\nEvaluate procurement practices, supplier contracts, and material usage.
\nMonitor site-level controls including labor costs, fuel, and equipment utilization.<\/p>\n
Risk Management<\/p>\n
Identify financial, operational, and compliance risks in construction projects.
\nRecommend practical internal control measures and risk mitigation strategies.
\nFollow up on implementation of corrective actions.<\/p>\n
Reporting & Advisory<\/p>\n
Prepare audit findings and recommendations in clear reports for management and the Board.
\nAdvise management on efficiency improvements, cost control, and fraud prevention.
\nEnsure transparency and accountability in all business processes.<\/p>\n
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)<\/p>\n
Timely completion of annual audit plan.
\nQuality of audit findings and recommendations.
\nReduction in compliance violations and financial discrepancies.
\nImprovements in project cost control and operational efficiency.<\/p>\n
About You<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master\u2019s preferred).
\nProfessional certification (CPA, ACCA, CIA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
\nMinimum 5 years\u2019 experience in auditing, preferably in the construction industry.
\nStrong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, IFRS, and Contract management.
\nExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
\nHigh integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
\nProficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software (e.g., Peachtree, ERP systems).<\/p>\n
