Job Purpose :- The Engineering Department Head oversees all engineering activities within a construction company, ensuring that projects are designed, executed, and completed according to technical specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role involves strategic planning, team management, and coordination with other departments to ensure successful project delivery.
\nMain Duties and Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Leadership and Management:<\/p>\n
Lead and manage the engineering department, including engineers, project managers, and support staff.
\nDevelop and implement departmental strategies, goals, and objectives in alignment with the company\u2019s overall vision and mission.
\nFoster a collaborative and innovative work environment, providing guidance and support to team members.<\/p>\n
Oversee the engineering aspects of all construction projects, ensuring they meet design specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n
Collaborate with project managers to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
\nMonitor project progress and performance, addressing any engineering-related issues or changes as needed.<\/p>\n
Technical Expertise:<\/p>\n
Provide technical guidance and expertise on engineering challenges and solutions.
\nEnsure the application of best practices and industry standards in all engineering activities.
\nReview and approve engineering designs, plans, and specifications before implementation.<\/p>\n
Regulatory Compliance:<\/p>\n
Ensure all engineering activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
\nStay updated on changes in regulations and incorporate them into engineering practices.
\nCoordinate with regulatory agencies and ensure necessary permits and approvals are obtained.<\/p>\n
Quality Assurance:<\/p>\n
Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure high standards of engineering work.
\nConduct regular audits and inspections of engineering processes and deliverables.
\nAddress and resolve any quality issues or deficiencies promptly.<\/p>\n
Budget and Resource Management:<\/p>\n
Develop and manage the engineering department\u2019s budget, including resource allocation and cost control.
\nMonitor expenditures and ensure efficient use of resources.
\nOversee the procurement of engineering materials, equipment, and services
\nIdentify training and development needs for engineering staff and implement appropriate programs.<\/p>\n
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
\nRecruit and onboard new engineers and support staff as needed.<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Coordination:<\/p>\n
Collaborate with other departments, including construction, procurement, and finance, to ensure seamless project execution.
\nCommunicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors regarding engineering aspects of projects.
\nAddress and resolve any engineering-related concerns or conflicts with stakeholders.<\/p>\n
Innovation and Improvement:<\/p>\n
Promote innovation and the adoption of new technologies and methodologies in engineering practices.
\nContinuously evaluate and improve engineering processes and procedures.
\nEncourage a culture of continuous improvement and problem-solving within the department.<\/p>\n
Reporting and Documentation:<\/p>\n
Prepare and present regular reports on engineering activities, project status, and department performance to senior management<\/p>\n
Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of engineering work, including design changes, approvals, and project records.<\/p>\n
About You<\/p>\n
Education:<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree and Master\u2019s degree preferred in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field;
\nProfessional certifications in Construction Management are preferred<\/p>\n
Experience :-<\/p>\n
8\/6 years of extensive construction industry experience for BSc & MSc Degrees respectively<\/p>\n

\nExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.
