The Fire Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring that all fire safety regulations, policies, and standards are implemented, maintained, and adhered to within an organization. \nKey Duties and Responsibilities
\n1. Fire Prevention and Risk Management<\/p>\n
Conduct regular fire risk assessments and safety inspections of buildings, facilities, and equipment.
\nIdentify potential fire hazards and recommend corrective actions.
\nDevelop and implement fire prevention and emergency response plans.
\nEnsure compliance with national and local fire safety regulations and standards.<\/p>\n
2. Training and Awareness<\/p>\n
Organize and conduct fire safety training sessions for staff and occupants.
\nConduct fire drills to test evacuation procedures and staff readiness.
\nPromote fire safety awareness throughout the organization.<\/p>\n
3. Equipment Maintenance and Inspection<\/p>\n
Inspect and maintain fire alarms, extinguishers, sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, and other fire protection equipment.
\nCoordinate with maintenance teams or external contractors to ensure equipment is in good working order.
\nKeep records of inspections, tests, and maintenance activities.<\/p>\n
4. Emergency Response<\/p>\n
Act as the lead officer during fire alarms, drills, or actual emergencies.
\nCoordinate evacuation procedures and liaise with emergency services as necessary.
\nInvestigate fire incidents and prepare reports with recommendations to prevent recurrence.<\/p>\n
5. Compliance and Documentation<\/p>\n
Maintain up-to-date records of all fire safety activities, risk assessments, and inspection reports.
\nEnsure compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations, building codes, and fire authority requirements.
\nPrepare and present fire safety reports to management or regulatory agencies.<\/p>\n
About You<\/p>\n

\nCertification in Fire Safety or Fire fighting (e.g., NEBOSH Fire Safety, NFPA, or equivalent) preferred.
\nMinimum of 2\u20135 years of relevant experience in fire safety management or occupational safety.
\nStrong knowledge of fire codes, standards, and emergency procedures.
\nGood communication, leadership, and training skills.
\nAbility to stay calm and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
\nComputer literacy and ability to maintain accurate reports and documentation.<\/p>\n
Experience<\/p>\n
Minimum of 2\u20135 years of experience in fire safety, risk management, or emergency response.
