Health Data Officer, JDC Ethiopia
\nReports to: Country Director
\nAdditional Manager: GRID Health Programs Manager
\nPosition Scope: Part-time (50%), with possibility to expand
\nStart date: January 2026
\nKey Roles and Responsibilities
\nThe Health Data Officer plays a crucial role in the organization, overseeing the coordination and management of data related to the Spine Program, Tena and other JDC Ethiopia Medical Programs and initiatives. The key responsibilities include:
\nData Collection and Oversight:<\/p>\n
Accurately entering patient medical information on AJJDC\u2019s database.
\nCompiling, sorting and verifying the accuracy of data before it is entered.
\nCapture and document appropriate medical photos of patients, digitalize x-rays, CT scans, MRIs and other medical records and encode into AJJDC\u2019s database.
\nAssist in filling patient intake forms and document as per established procedures.
\nInterview patients, and write success stories
\nMaintaining medical records by compiling, managing and securing the medical database under their care, and to keep both the information and the computer system up-to-date.<\/p>\n
Other Medical Programs Data:<\/p>\n
Establishing and maintaining program-specific, cloud-based databases for efficient entry of beneficiary data.
\nDocument patient stories by conducting interviews, crafting success stories.
\nCompiling, sorting, and verifying data and maintaining comprehensive medical records to support reporting and program visibility.<\/p>\n
Reporting and Research:<\/p>\n
Prepare dashboards, generate reports to facilitate program evaluation and decision-making
\nActively participate in preparing surveys and research<\/p>\n
Perform other duties as needed.<\/p>\n
About You<\/p>\n
Qualifications:<\/p>\n
BA in Computer Science, Public Heath, Statistic, Health Informatics, or other related fields
\nMinimum 3 years of experience in data management, information collection, health information systems, or M&E
\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
\nExperience with health data systems (e.g., DHIS, EMR systems)
\nExperience with data visualization tools such as power BI, Excel and Google Sheets
\nFamiliarity with the Ethiopia healthcare system \u2013 an advantage
\nExperience in an NGO or development context \u2013 an advantage
\nStrong interpersonal and client\/patient-facing skills, with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically with patients and program beneficiaries.
\nStrong organizational, analytical and communication skills
\nTech-oriented, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities
\nStrong Amharic and English (written and spoken)
\nAvailability to travel regularly and spend time in the field<\/p>\n
