SOS Sahel Ethiopia jointly with Society for Education, Environment Development (SEED) obtained financial support from UN OCHA to implement a project entitled \u201cRebuilding Lives: Integrated Humanitarian Support for Returning IDPs in Horo Guduru Wollega zone, Abe Dongoro District\u201d. The project objective is to strengthen the livelihoods, food security, and protection of returning internally displaced populations in Abe Dongoro district by delivering integrated, time-bound support\u2014including agricultural inputs, animal health services, cash assistance, emergency shelter repair, GBV response, Mobile Health and Nutrition Team (MHNT), and WASH. The project will be in implementation from 01, December 2025 to 17, August 2026.\u201d
\nSOS Sahel Ethiopia, as part of its program implementation is seeking to employ interested, qualified, & experienced individual for the job positions mentioned hereunder:
\nMidwifery
\nJob Purpose
\nUnder the supervision of the Health Officer and as part of the MHNT, the Midwifery will play a key role in delivering integrated reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) services in the project implementation district. The midwifery will be responsible for the implementation of quality maternal and newborn care services in line with national guidelines and project objectives. The role is crucial for ensuring maternal and newborn health during humanitarian crises.
\nMajor Responsibilities <\/p>\n
Assist pregnant women and new mothers, providing medical assistance and health information.
\nPerform antenatal care, postnatal care, family planning, and ensure safe delivery procedures.
\nProvide nutrition education and support for exclusive breastfeeding.
\nWork to align cultural practices with international health standards, often facing cultural challenges.
\nMaintain accurate records of services provided and compile reports for health response coordinators.
\nProvide family planning counseling and services, ensuring informed choice and method availability.
\nConduct maternal and newborn health education during community outreach, including nutrition counseling for pregnant and lactating women.
\nCollaborate with MHNT team members to ensure holistic and integrated health and nutrition services.
\nConduct routine screening for malnutrition among PLWs and newborns, and refer cases for appropriate care.
\nMaintain accurate and complete medical records and HMIS reports related to maternal and newborn services.
\nMonitor and follow up on pregnancy outcomes and newborn conditions, providing referrals as needed.
\nActively engage in early recovery planning and restoration of reproductive health services in disaster-affected areas.
\nPerform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure smooth and effective MHNT operations.<\/p>\n

About You<\/p>\n
Required Qualifications and Skills:<\/p>\n
BSc Degree in Midwifery from a recognized and accredited institution with a Valid Professional license.
\nMinimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in maternal and reproductive health service delivery.
\nPrior experience in emergency response, mobile health outreach, or hard-to-reach settings is an added advantage.
\nCapacity to provide health education to pregnant and lactating women (PLWs) on nutrition, hygiene, and danger signs.
\nAbility to conduct nutrition screening (e.g., MUAC) for PLWs and refer cases of concern.
\nGood interpersonal and communication skills, with cultural sensitivity in engaging communities.
\nAbility to work under pressure and in hard-to-reach or emergency settings as part of a mobile health team.
