\nSCOPE OF THE POSITION
\nThe Physiotherapist is responsible for evaluating disabilities and providing comprehensive physiotherapy care to patients with limb amputations, both pre- and post-surgery. The role includes counseling, rehabilitation planning, and coordination with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal recovery and reintegration.
\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
\nThe Physiotherapist\u2019s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n
Patient Assessment & Disability Evaluation: Conduct thorough evaluations of patients\u2019 physical condition, focusing on amputee-specific needs (musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiorespiratory).
\nTreatment Planning & Implementation: Develop and deliver individualized physiotherapy programs, including gait training, prosthetic adaptation, and functional exercises.
\nPre and Post-Operative Counseling: Advise amputees on proper bandaging, stump hygiene, and exercises to prepare for and recover from surgery.
\nGroup & Individual Sessions: Organize and lead exercise sessions tailored to the type of disability, including aerobic and strengthening activities.
\nProsthetic Coordination: Collaborate with orthopedic technicians for casting and prosthesis fitting; ensure proper use and maintenance of orthopedic devices.
\nReferral Management: Refer patients to orthopedic surgeons for stump revision or further investigation when necessary; coordinate patient registration with the orthopedic office.
\nAdmissions & Documentation: Manage patient admissions under supervision; Ensure documentation\/record keeping is accurate and physio chart is properly filled, maintaining confidentially of information.
\nProvision of Walking Aids: Ensure patients receive appropriate walking aids and other rehabilitation equipment. Educate patients, family members, and caregivers to continue doing exercises after the discharge.
\nTeam Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare professionals to provide integrated care.
\nHygiene & Safety: Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of physiotherapy materials; Promote an environment that enables patient\u2019s safety, independence, quality of life, and health by implementing all necessary actions.<\/p>\n
About You<\/p>\n
Education: Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Physiotherapy (or equivalent qualification).
\nLanguage: Good command of English and ability to work in an international environment.<\/p>\n
Technical Skills:<\/p>\n
Expertise in amputee rehabilitation, including prosthetic training and gait re-education.
\nAbility to perform casts, POP, and slabs when necessary.<\/p>\n
Soft Skills:<\/p>\n
Strong communication skills and ability to handle emotionally challenging situations.
\nExcellent time management and organizational skills.
\nPatience and motivational attitude to support long-term treatment plans.
\nHigh levels of empathy, ensuring patient-centered care with dignity and respect.
