\n1. Position Overview
\nDevelopment and Social Services Commission is a development wing of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus registered under the FDRE ACSO and in operation for over 3 decades. Currently, the organization (EECMY DASSC) operates in all regions of the country with over 1600 employees.
\nWe are seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team as an HR and Legal Affairs Officer. This dual-role position plays a vital part in managing human resources functions and ensuring legal compliance across the organization. This vacancy is open to both internal staff and external applicants who meet the qualifications and are passionate about contributing to a dynamic and mission-driven organization.
\n2. Key Responsibilities
\nHuman Resources
\n\u2022 Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and employee orientation.
\n\u2022 Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems.
\n\u2022 Support performance management and staff development initiatives.
\n\u2022 Ensure compliance with HR policies and labor regulations.
\nLegal Affairs
\n\u2022 Provide legal guidance on employment and organizational matters.
\n\u2022 Draft, review, and manage contracts and legal documents.
\n\u2022 Represent the organization in legal proceedings, including labor disputes, regulatory hearings, and court cases.
\n\u2022 Liaise with external legal advisors when necessary.
\n\u2022 Monitor and interpret changes in labor and corporate law.
\n\u2022 Design and deliver training sessions to staff on legal compliance, workplace ethics, and regulatory updates.<\/p>\n
About You<\/p>\n
Minimum of LLB degree in Law, B.A. in Human Resource Management, or a related field. Holder of both LLB and BA degree in HRM is preferable;
\nMinimum of 10 years of experience in HR and\/or legal affairs.
\nDemonstrated experience in defending an organization in legal proceedings or representing an employer in labor-related cases.
\nExperience in developing and conducting legal compliance training.
\nStrong understanding of Ethiopian labor law and HR practices.
\nExcellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
\nHigh level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
\nRespect the values of EECMY DASSC
\nProficiency in both spoken and written Amharic and Afan Oromo is required.
