\nBackground
\nAQ Roses plc is a company that produces different kinds of flowers starting from 2006 based in Ziway, Oromia. The company had started its farming on 18 hectares based in the shores of Lake Denbel. Having maintained its qualities and quantities, currently AQ Roses flower farm has expanded its farming to 38 hectares instead of 18 hectares. The company sells its product under the brand name called Rosa Plaza. AQ Roses flower farm is unique in terms of product quality, service and reliability. Furthermore AQ Roses gives great emphasis on environment and social aspects of the surrounding.
\nScope of the position
\nUnder the direct supervision of Supply Chain Manager or Logistic Manager; the Import officer is responsible for managing and coordinating all company import activities. The role ensures imported goods comply with Ethiopian regulations, arrive on time, and are properly documented and accounted for.
\nKey Responsibilities
\n1. Import Planning<\/p>\n
Receive and review Proforma Invoices (PFIs) from Procurement or Operations.
\nCheck pricing, HS codes, and required documents for compliance.
\nCoordinate with Finance and GFM on payment terms, foreign currency availability, and import budget.
\nRegister approved PFIs and track import progress.<\/p>\n
2. Permits & Bank Processing<\/p>\n
Prepare and submit Import Permit applications to SWS.
\nArrange import insurance in line with company and NBE requirements.
\nProcess bank and NBE approvals for foreign currency allocation, LC opening, and supplier payments.
\nFollow up with banks on document endorsement and release.<\/p>\n
3. Shipment & Customs Clearance<\/p>\n
Track shipments and share updates with SCM and Finance teams.
\nReview and verify shipping documents (Invoice, Packing List, Insurance, Permit, BL\/AWB).
\nCoordinate with clearing agents for customs declaration and duty assessment.
\nFollow up until goods are cleared and NBE declaration files are closed on time.
\nRequest ESL waiver and issue booking instructions when required.<\/p>\n
4. Delivery & Cost Coordination<\/p>\n
Coordinate delivery of cleared goods to company premises.
\nConfirm receipt of goods with Warehouse\/SCM.
\nProvide Finance with full import cost details (freight, insurance, duty, taxes, clearance).
\nSupport correct accounting entries and VAT reclaim documentation.<\/p>\n
5. Reporting & Documentation<\/p>\n
Maintain complete import files (PFI, permits, insurance, LC, customs, and payment documents).
\nPrepare simple monthly import status reports.
\nSupport ERCA, NBE, and external audits.
\nMaintain regular communication with suppliers, banks, and logistics partners.<\/p>\n

About You<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
\n1\u20133 years of experience in import, logistics, or customs-related work.
\nBasic knowledge of Ethiopian import, customs, and foreign exchange regulations.
\nGood communication and coordination skills.
