The Nurse is responsible for providing primary healthcare, emergency medical response, and occupational health services to employees at the mining site. The role focuses on injury prevention, treatment of work-related and non-work-related illnesses, health surveillance, and compliance with workplace health and safety standards. The Nurse works closely with the Medical Doctors, HSE team, site management, and to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
\nKey Responsibilities
\n1. Clinical Care & Emergency Response<\/p>\n
Provide immediate first aid and emergency medical care for workplace injuries and illnesses.
\nAssess, treat, and stabilize injured or ill employees and arrange referrals or evacuations when required.
\nAssist the physician or visiting medical professionals during examinations and procedures.
\nAdminister prescribed medications, injections, IV fluids, and other treatments according to medical protocols.
\nMonitor and record patient vital signs and clinical progress.<\/p>\n
2. Occupational Health & Monitoring<\/p>\n
Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and return-to-work health assessments.
\nMonitor occupational illnesses and injuries related to mining operations.
\nPerform drug and alcohol testing as per company policy.
\nCarry out health surveillance programs (e.g., dust exposure, noise exposure, fatigue monitoring).<\/p>\n
3. Care Planning & Case Management<\/p>\n
Develop and manage care plans for injured or ill employees in coordination with physicians and HSE personnel.
\nMonitor recovery progress and support safe return-to-work programs.
\nCoordinate care with external clinics, hospitals, and emergency services.<\/p>\n
4. Health Education & Promotion<\/p>\n
Educate employees on occupational health risks, injury prevention, hygiene, and wellness.
\nConduct health awareness sessions on topics such as heat stress, fatigue management, ergonomics, and chronic disease prevention.
\nProvide counseling and emotional support to employees when needed.<\/p>\n
5. Documentation & Reporting<\/p>\n
Maintain accurate medical records and reports using electronic or manual systems.
\nDocument all treatments, incidents, and medical interventions in compliance with legal and company requirements.
\nPrepare medical and injury reports for management and regulatory authorities.
\nMaintain confidentiality of all medical information.<\/p>\n
6. Safety, Compliance & Equipment Management<\/p>\n
Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, national labor laws, and occupational health regulations.
\nMaintain clinic supplies, medications, and emergency equipment.
\nInspect and manage medical equipment such as first aid kits, oxygen units, AEDs, and emergency response tools.
\nParticipate in emergency drills, incident investigations, and risk assessments.<\/p>\n
7. Coordination & Support<\/p>\n
Work closely with the HSE team to support site safety initiatives.
\nCommunicate medical updates and recommendations to management while respecting confidentiality.
\nSupervise and guide first aiders or junior medical staff on site.
\nSupport camp health services where applicable.<\/p>\n
About You<\/p>\n
Education <\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree Or MSc in nursing or related field from a recognized institution.
\nValid professional nursing license with the relevant regulatory authority.
\nCertification in First Aid, BLS, and emergency care & Occupational Health or Industrial Nursing training is an advantage.<\/p>\n
Experience<\/p>\n
Minimum 2\u20135 years of nursing experience, preferably in: Occupational health Mining, construction, oil & gas, or industrial settings is highly advantageous
\nExperience in emergency response and in Mining Cement factory or heavy duties site working environment is highly desirable.<\/p>\n
Knowledge & Technical Skills<\/p>\n
Strong knowledge of occupational health, workplace injuries, and industrial hazards.
\nAbility to perform physical exams, wound care, IV administration, and basic diagnostics.
\nCompetence in operating medical and emergency equipment.
\nUnderstanding of HSE standards, incident reporting, and workplace health regulations.<\/p>\n
