\nLocation: Addis Ababa, Head Office<\/p>\n
3. Purpose of the Job<\/p>\n
The Senior General Accountant manages daily finance operations, ensuring accurate transaction recording, reconciliations, and month-end closings. The role prepares management accounts, annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS, and audit schedules, while ensuring tax compliance and maintaining strong internal controls<\/p>\n
4. Major duties and Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Review journal entries to ensure accurate account coding and compliance with accounting standards.
\nMaintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records.
\nLead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes in a timely manner.
\nEnsure the accuracy of the trial balance and all supporting schedules.
\nPrepare monthly management reports to support informed decision-making.
\nPrepare annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
\nPrepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors.
\nEnsure timely filing and payment of all tax obligations.
\nManage reconciliation of bank and other accounts
\nMaintain proper tax documentation and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
\nIdentify financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
\nPerform other duties as assigned by the line manager.<\/p>\n
About You<\/p>\n
5. Education & Experience<\/p>\n
BA Degree in Accounting & Finance or related fields
\nProfessional certification (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
\nMinimum 5 years of relevant experience out of which 2 years is at senior level
\nManufacturing\/Audit firm industry experience is highly preferred.<\/p>\n
5.2 Skills<\/p>\n
Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and regulations.
\nExperience preparing audited financial statements.
\nGood knowledge of IFRS
