Dodai Manufacturing Plc (Dodai), is a recently incorporated organization launched in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on August 01, 2023. Dodai is a fast growing organization with a mission of making e-mobility accessible to everyone in Africa through its innovative products and services. Dodai plans to provide brand new electric two wheelers by assembling them here in Addis Ababa and plans to expand to major regional cities in Ethiopia by the end of 2026.
\nPurpose of the Position
\nThe Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, preparing financial statements, conducting analysis, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. This role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory management, applicable tax laws and financial reporting standards.
\nKey Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Financial Reporting:<\/p>\n
Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).<\/p>\n
Cost Accounting & Inventory Management:<\/p>\n
Oversee cost accounting processes, including job costing and variance analysis.
\nTrack inventory levels, cost of goods sold (COGS), and prepare cost build worksheets for imports
\nConduct periodic inventory audits and support inventory reconciliation.
\nEnsure physical stock movement and balance aligned with system recordings<\/p>\n
Budgeting & Forecasting:<\/p>\n
Collaborate with the finance team to prepare annual cash forecasts.
\nAnalyze budget variances and provide actionable insights to the finance management team.<\/p>\n
General Ledger & Month-End Close:<\/p>\n
Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
\nMaintain the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger.<\/p>\n
Tax Compliance:<\/p>\n
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and prepare tax returns (e.g., VAT, corporate income tax).
\nCoordinate with external auditors and tax authorities as required.<\/p>\n
Internal Controls & Compliance:<\/p>\n
Maintain and improve internal control systems to prevent errors and fraud.
\nEnsure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n
Financial Analysis:<\/p>\n
Conduct financial analysis to evaluate business performance, operational efficiency, and cost-saving opportunities.
\nAssist with ad hoc financial projects and reports as needed.<\/p>\n
Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as directed by your supervisor<\/p>\n
About You<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Requirements:<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
\n2-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
\nStrong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting.
\nProficiency in accounting software & Microsoft Excel.
\nExcellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
\nStrong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
