The role will ensure that all communications uphold the dignity and worth of children and families served, align with AGCI\u2019s global brand standards, and reflect Ethiopia\u2019s cultural context with integrity and excellence. This position will work closely with Project Managers, Leadership, and the HQ Global Communications Specialist to streamline communications, respond to content requests, manage social media channels, and ensure alignment with global messaging. The Communications Officer will play a critical role in strengthening AGCI Ethiopia\u2019s visibility, partnerships, and national leadership within the child welfare and trauma<br \/>\ninformed care space.<br \/>\nPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<br \/>\nContent Creation &amp; Ethical Storytelling <\/p>\n<p>Partner closely with Program Managers and Country Director to identify and develop compelling, ethical stories that accurately reflect AGCI Ethiopia\u2019s impact.<br \/>\nDraft written impact stories, reports, captions, and internal updates.<br \/>\nField and coordinate storytelling and content requests from AGCI Global Communications Specialist. collaborate with the Global Communications Specialist to ensure alignment with AGCI\u2019s brand positioning, tone, and global messaging.<br \/>\nMaintain contextual accuracy by staying informed on Ethiopian child welfare data, policies, and emerging trends.<br \/>\nConduct interviews with children (when appropriate and approved), caregivers, staff, and partners in alignment with AGCI\u2019s safeguarding policies.<br \/>\nEnsure all storytelling practices protect dignity, privacy, and trauma-sensitive standards.<\/p>\n<p>Digital &amp; Social Media Management <\/p>\n<p>Manage and serve as the digital voice of AGCI Ethiopia Instagram and LinkedIn accounts.<br \/>\nSupport the Country Director in preparing other social media content as requested.<br \/>\nDevelop and maintain a localized content calendar aligned with AGCI Global strategic campaigns while highlighting Ethiopia-specific priorities.<br \/>\nCreate and schedule social media posts, reels, graphics, and written content.<br \/>\nMonitor engagement, analyze performance metrics, and provide reports to the Country Director and Global Communications team.<br \/>\nMaintain a secure, organized digital asset library (photos, videos, testimonials, event materials).<br \/>\nEnsure all visual content complies with AGCI\u2019s Child Protection &amp; Safeguarding Policy.<\/p>\n<p>Brand Management &amp; Global Alignment <\/p>\n<p>Ensure consistent use of AGCI\u2019s brand guidelines, visual identity, tone, and messaging across all Ethiopia-produced materials.<br \/>\nServe as Ethiopia\u2019s brand ambassador in digital communications and public-facing materials.<br \/>\nReview and approve locally developed communications materials before external distribution.<br \/>\nCoordinate with HQ to align campaigns, reports, grant messaging, and major announcements.<\/p>\n<p>Media Relations &amp; External Communications <\/p>\n<p>Support preparation of press releases, media briefings, and public statements for AGCI Ethiopia.<br \/>\nAssist the Country Director in drafting speeches, presentations, and messaging for conferences, partner meetings, and advocacy engagements.<br \/>\nSupport contract coordination with photographers, videographers, designers, and creative vendors to ensure high-quality documentation of AGCI Ethiopia\u2019s work.<br \/>\nOversee ethical standards and content approvals in all contracted visual storytelling.<\/p>\n<p>Internal Communications &amp; Liaison Role<\/p>\n<p>Act as the primary liaison between AGCI Ethiopia and HQ for all communications purposes.<br \/>\nStreamline communications flow between programs and leadership to ensure accurate representation of programmatic updates.<br \/>\nSupport internal staff communications such as newsletters, recaps, updates, and celebrations.<br \/>\nProvide communications support during visibility visits (Board, donors, partners, leadership).<\/p>\n<p>Events &amp; Advocacy Support <\/p>\n<p>Support communications strategy and materials for major events.<br \/>\nDevelop localized event materials including presentations, banners, brochures, digital slides, and social media promotion.<br \/>\nDocument major program milestones and advocacy engagements.<br \/>\nStrengthen AGCI Ethiopia\u2019s positioning as a national leader in trauma-informed, family-based child protection systems.<\/p>\n<p>OTHER<br \/>\nWork Environment <\/p>\n<p>Primarily office-based position with occasional domestic travel to support program activities and content capturing.<br \/>\nMay require flexible or irregular working hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, based on organizational needs.<\/p>\n<p>Additional Responsibilities <\/p>\n<p>Perform other tasks within the scope of work, as assigned by the Country Director.<\/p>\n<p>About You<\/p>\n<p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:<br \/>\nEducation &amp; Experience <\/p>\n<p>Bachelor\u2019s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.<br \/>\nMinimum 3\u20135 years of experience in communications, preferably within a nonprofit or child focused organization.<br \/>\nExperience in ethical storytelling and safeguarding sensitive communications strongly preferred.<br \/>\nExperience managing organizational social media accounts preferred.<\/p>\n<p>Skills &amp;
