\nJob Summary
\nThe Senior Finance Officer is responsible for overseeing and strengthening financial operations and control functions of Beka Food Manufacturing. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, robust internal and external controls, effective cash flow management, reliable inventory accounting, and timely reconciliations. The position supports leadership with sound financial analysis and insights to improve financial performance and compliance.
\n5. Key Responsibilities
\nA. Financial Planning & Cash Flow Management<\/p>\n
Develop and monitor cash flow forecasts to ensure optimal liquidity.
\nManage daily cash balances, bank accounts, and payment schedules.
\nCoordinate with operations and management to plan for expenditures, capital needs, and financial commitments.
\nProvide monthly cash flow reports with analysis of variances and recommendations.<\/p>\n
B. Internal & External Financial Controls<\/p>\n
Implement and enforce strong internal financial controls across all finance functions.
\nReview and update Finance Policies & Procedures to reflect best practices and compliance with local regulations.
\nCoordinate external audits and compliance reviews; prepare audit schedules and respond to audit findings.
\nEnsure compliance with tax laws, labor regulations, and corporate policies.<\/p>\n
C. Accounting & Reconciliations<\/p>\n
Oversee accurate recording of all financial transactions using Beka Food\u2019s accounting system.
\nPerform periodic bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies timely.
\nLead reconciliation of supplier accounts, customer accounts, and intercompany balances.
\nPrepare and review trial balances, profit & loss statements, and balance sheets monthly.<\/p>\n
D. Inventory & Cost Control<\/p>\n
Supervise inventory accounting processes including stock tagging, tracking, and valuation.
\nCollaborate with Operations to ensure accurate recording of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
\nMonitor variances between physical counts and book balances; implement corrective actions.
\nAnalyze product cost components to support pricing decisions and reduce waste.<\/p>\n
E. Financial Reporting & Analysis<\/p>\n
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
\nAnalyze key financial metrics (e.g., gross margins, operating expenses, overhead variances).
\nPresent financial results to senior management with insights and recommendations.
\nSupport budgeting and forecasting processes with detailed analysis.
\nDevelop and maintain dashboards to track performance indicators.<\/p>\n
F. Team Leadership & Capacity Building<\/p>\n
Supervise finance officers, accountants, and support staff.
\nPromote continuous training to improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
\nCoordinate interdepartmental collaboration to support data flow and shared objectives.<\/p>\n
About You<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Experience
\nRequired:<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
\nProfessional certification (ACCA, CPA, CFA) preferred.
\nAt least 5\u20138 years of progressive finance experience \u2014 ideally within manufacturing, FMCG, or food processing industries.
\nStrong knowledge of financial accounting principles and controls.
\nDemonstrated experience with cash flow management, reconciliations, inventory accounting, and financial reporting.
\nExcellent Excel skills and competency with accounting software (ERP experience preferred).

8. Working Conditions<\/p>\n
Office based in Addis Ababa, with occasional visits to production sites.
