About Editors\u2019 Guild of Ethiopia (EGE)<br \/>\nEstablished on October 29, 2019, and registered with the FDRE Agency for Civil Society Organizations (No. 4527), Editors\u2019 Guild of Ethiopia (EGE) fills a critical gap in Ethiopia\u2019s media landscape by representing the often-overlooked gatekeepers of media houses \u2013 individuals who remain vulnerable despite their frontline roles. With 108 members spanning print, broadcast, and digital platforms across private, government, and community sectors, EGE champions press freedom, journalistic integrity, and ethical standards.<br \/>\nGuided by a vision for a democratic, public-interest-driven media landscape, EGE monitors threats to journalists and media houses through its sojethiopia.org portal and leads capacity-building initiatives. These include training news editors, advancing gender equality, promoting peace, and driving climate action in Ethiopia. Through such efforts, EGE serves as a cornerstone for resilience and progress within the country\u2019s media sector.<br \/>\nII. Position Summary<br \/>\nThe Monitoring and Evaluation (M&amp;E) Officer will be responsible for strengthening EGE\u2019s M&amp;E systems, ensuring that project data is effectively collected, analyzed, and used to inform decision-making and demonstrate impact. This role will support the development of M&amp;E frameworks, track progress against indicators, and contribute to learning and reporting across EGE\u2019s programs and projects.<br \/>\nWorking closely with program teams, partners, and the Programs Manager, the M&amp;E Officer will promote a culture of evidence-based learning and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, experience in M&amp;E within the NGO or civil society sector, and a commitment to using data for program quality and accountability. This is a full-time position tied to the implementation periods of programs and\/or projects under EGE\u2019s partnership agreements.<br \/>\nIII. Key Responsibilities<br \/>\nM&amp;E System Development and Management<\/p>\n<p>Support the design and implementation of M&amp;E frameworks, including logical frameworks, theories of change, and indicator tracking tables for projects.<br \/>\nDevelop and maintain M&amp;E tools, such as data collection forms, surveys, interview guides, and databases, ensuring they are practical and aligned with donor requirements.<br \/>\nEstablish and manage systems for data collection, storage, and retrieval to ensure data integrity and accessibility.<\/p>\n<p>Data Collection and Analysis<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate and oversee data collection activities, including baseline, mid-term, and end-line assessments, in collaboration with program teams and partners.<br \/>\nConduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis, summarizing findings for internal learning and external reporting.<br \/>\nEnsure timely and accurate entry of project data into relevant M&amp;E databases or platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Reporting and Learning<\/p>\n<p>Prepare M&amp;E sections of donor reports, including progress against indicators, success stories, and lessons learned.<br \/>\nContribute to the development of high-quality narrative reports by providing data-driven insights and analysis.<br \/>\nFacilitate learning sessions, after-action reviews, and reflection workshops to capture lessons and improve project implementation.<\/p>\n<p>Capacity Building and Support<\/p>\n<p>Provide training and technical support to project staff and partners on M&amp;E concepts, tools, and data collection methods.<br \/>\nPromote the use of data for adaptive management and decision-making across projects.<\/p>\n<p>Compliance and Accountability<\/p>\n<p>Ensure that M&amp;E activities comply with donor requirements and organizational policies.<br \/>\nSupport the preparation of documentation for internal and external evaluations and audits as needed.<br \/>\nContribute to accountability mechanisms Positions One<\/p>\n<p>About You<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications and Experience<\/p>\n<p>Bachelor\u2019s degree in Project Management, Statistics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.<br \/>\nMinimum of two years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably with NGOs, civil society organizations, or media-related projects.<br \/>\nStrong knowledge of M&amp;E frameworks, indicator development, and data management systems.<br \/>\nProficiency in data analysis software (e.g, SPSS, Stata, Excel) and familiarity with digital data collection tools (e.g., Kobo Toolbox, ODK).<br \/>\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic.<br \/>\nExperience with donor-funded project M&amp;E is an advantage.<br \/>\nFamiliarity with Ethiopia\u2019s
