The Depot Operations Coordinator will oversee day-to-day operations at the container depot, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant handling, storage, movement, and documentation of containers while optimising yard utilisation and supervising depot staff.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities:\u00a0<\/p>\n
Operational Oversight<\/p>\n
\tSupervise daily depot activities including container receipt, stacking, storage, shifting, and release.
\n\tEnsure accurate container inventory control and real-time yard status updates.
\n\tCoordinate container movements with equipment operators (reach stackers, forklifts, RTGs).
\n\tMonitor turnaround times (TAT) and ensure operational KPIs are met.<\/p>\n
Safety & Compliance<\/p>\n
\tEnforce safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA\/DOSH and company safety standards.
\n\tConduct daily toolbox talks and safety inspections.
\n\tEnsure proper handling of damaged, hazardous, or special containers.
\n\tInvestigate incidents, near-misses, and implement corrective actions.<\/p>\n
Staff Supervision<\/p>\n
\tAllocate duties and supervise yard clerks, equipment operators, security, and casual labor.
\n\tMonitor attendance, discipline, and performance of depot staff.
\n\tCoach, train, and mentor staff on SOPs and safe work practices.
\n\tParticipate in staff performance reviews and shift planning.<\/p>\n
Documentation & Systems<\/p>\n
\tEnsure accurate documentation of container movements (EIRs, gate passes, damage reports).
\n\tUpdate depot management systems and ensure data accuracy.
\n\tPrepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
\n\tCoordinate with customs, shipping lines, transporters, and clearing agents.<\/p>\n
Asset & Equipment Management<\/p>\n
\tEnsure proper yard layout, stacking plans, and space optimization.
\n\tAssist in planning preventive maintenance schedules for handling equipment.<\/p>\n
Customer & Stakeholder Coordination<\/p>\n
\tLiaise with shipping lines, transporters, and clients on container availability and issues.
\n\tHandle operational queries, delays, and escalations professionally.
\n\tSupport audits, inspections, and client visits.<\/p>\n
Candidate Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tKnowledge and understanding of the shipping industry.
\n\t4+ years working experience in a similar position.
\n\tBachelors\/Diploma in a business related field.\u00a0
\n\tCompetent user of the Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Excel and Word.
\n\tFluent in English with excellent communications skills, both oral and written.\u00a0
\n\tStrong time management skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.<\/p>\n
