Job Summary<\/p>\n
\tAKU- Department of Medicine is seeking a Fulltime Faculty, Gastroenterology. The incumbent will undertake clinical and educational functions under the supervision of the department Chair or delegated individual within the department. He\/she will be responsible for admitting, consulting and undertaking diagnosis and treatment of patients admitted under the gastroenterology service in addition to seeing patients in the gastroenterology clinic and supervising residents assigned to the clinic rotation. They will also see patients in a defined outreach clinic within Nairobi. The faculty will be allowed to order tests and radiology and will consult with sub-specialists when necessary to ensure top-notch patient care.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities<\/p>\n
The incumbent will:<\/p>\n
\tEstablish integrated efforts among consultants to ensure the best treatment plan
\n\tProvide counseling\/education to patients and their families on wellness, prevention and early detection
\n\tParticipate in the development of education programmes and implement mechanisms for teaching
\n\tLead, plan and organize the formation of an efficient and efficient gastroenterology service
\n\tDevelop policies, procedures, rules and regulations of the programme
\n\tExecute short and long-term strategic plans for the department
\n\tPromote and undertake research activities to strengthen the programme and AKUH Nairobi
\n\tOrganize and implement a quality assurance programme for the programme<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tShould have completed a Masters in Medicine or its equivalent
\n\tRegistration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
\n\tShould have completed a fellowship in gastroenterology
\n\tShould have teaching and research experience with a minimum of 2 years\u2019 clinical experience
\n\tShould be a competent specialist recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
\n\tShould be innovative with good managerial skills
\n\tShould have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team<\/p>\n
