Job Summary<\/p>\n
To support the engineering and architectural teams by conducting materials testing, quality control inspections, and site-based verification of construction materials for both road infrastructure and building projects. The Laboratory Technician will ensure that all materials used on site comply with approved specifications, standards, and project requirements.<\/p>\n
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n
\tConduct field and laboratory testing of materials including soil, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, steel, and building materials in accordance with approved standards and project specifications.
\n\tPerform soil tests such as moisture content, sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, compaction tests, and CBR testing for road works.
\n\tCarry out concrete cube casting, curing, slump tests, and compressive strength testing for building and infrastructure works.
\n\tSupport quality control for architectural building works including concrete works, masonry, plaster, finishes, and structural elements.
\n\tVerify material compliance before use on site and report any non-conformities to supervising engineers.
\n\tAssist in sampling, labelling, and maintaining proper documentation of all test results.
\n\tMaintain daily laboratory logs, test registers, and quality reports.
\n\tWork closely with Civil Engineers and Architectural Engineers to ensure construction materials meet required standards.
\n\tParticipate in site inspections and quality assurance checks.
\n\tMaintain and properly handle laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
\n\tEnsure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards at all times.<\/p>\n
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:<\/p>\n
\tDiploma\/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Building Construction, or related field.
\n\t2\u20134 years practical experience in construction materials testing, preferably in road or building projects.
\n\tExperience working on public infrastructure projects (KURA, KeNHA, County projects) is an added advantage.
\n\tHands-on experience in site-based laboratory operations.<\/p>\n
