The Stores Manager will oversee all warehouse and inventory management functions for materials used in electricity distribution, transmission, and line construction works. This role requires strong experience in handling electrical line materials such as conductors, poles, transformers, insulators, hardware fittings, protective equipment, and related tools. The manager will ensure efficient inventory control, compliance with safety standards, and timely issuance of materials to field teams.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\u00a0Inventory & Warehouse Management<\/p>\n
\tManage receipt, storage, and issuance of electrical line materials and equipment.
\n\tMaintain accurate inventory records for items such as conductors, poles, insulators, transformers, cables, switchgear, and line hardware.
\n\tImplement stock control systems (ERP or manual) to ensure accuracy and traceability.
\n\tConduct regular cycle counts and full stocktakes.
\n\tEnsure appropriate storage conditions for sensitive electrical components.<\/p>\n
Material Planning & Logistics<\/p>\n
\tCollaborate with procurement and engineering teams to forecast material requirements.
\n\tCoordinate timely delivery of materials to line construction and maintenance crews.
\n\tManage dispatch planning for multiple sites or work crews.
\n\tTrack material consumption and report variances.<\/p>\n
Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance<\/p>\n
\tEnsure compliance with electrical industry standards and safety protocols (e.g., handling of energized equipment, PPE).
\n\tInspect incoming items for quality and conformity to technical specifications.
\n\tMaintain safe storage and labeling of items, including hazardous materials.<\/p>\n
Process Improvement & Reporting<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and implement warehouse procedures to improve efficiency.
\n\tPrepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and utilization reports.
\n\tRecommend improvements in inventory optimization and cost control.
\n\tParticipate in audits and implement corrective actions.<\/p>\n
Team Leadership<\/p>\n
\tSupervise and train storekeepers, loaders, and warehouse assistants.
\n\tAllocate duties and monitor performance.
\n\tPromote a culture of safety, accuracy, and teamwork.<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
Required:<\/p>\n
\tDiploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or related field.
\n\tMinimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse or stores management.
\n\tHands-on experience working in electricity distribution, transmission, line construction, or utility environments.
\n\tStrong knowledge of electrical materials such as poles, conductors, transformers, insulators, LV\/HV accessories, and line tools.
\n\tProficiency in inventory systems (ERP, SAP, Sage, etc.).<\/p>\n
