Job Description<\/p>\n
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing cash and supplier payments, and ensuring full statutory and tax compliance in a high-volume, fast-paced operational environment.<\/p>\n
This is a hands-on role requiring strong internal controls, high accuracy, and the ability to manage large transaction volumes with integrity and efficiency.<\/p>\n
Financial Management & Petty Cash Control<\/p>\n
\tMaintain accurate books of accounts and general ledger
\n\tPrepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
\n\tProcess bank and petty cash payments and perform reconciliations
\n\tEnsure all payments are properly approved and supported
\n\tConduct daily reconciliations and post transactions into the accounting system
\n\tSupport budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
\n\tMaintain fixed asset register
\n\tSupport month-end and year-end closing and audits<\/p>\n
Creditors Management<\/p>\n
\tMaintain accurate creditors ledger
\n\tVerify, post, and file supplier invoices with proper documentation
\n\tPrepare creditors ageing reports
\n\tSchedule and process supplier payments in line with agreed terms
\n\tReconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
\n\tApply and account for withholding tax (WHT) accurately<\/p>\n
Tax & Statutory Compliance<\/p>\n
\tPrepare and file VAT, PAYE, WHT, and Corporation Tax returns
\n\tEnsure correct VAT treatment on expenses and export sales
\n\tReconcile tax ledger accounts and monitor statutory deadlines
\n\tEnsure compliance with NSSF, SHA, and Housing Levy
\n\tSupport KRA audits and liaise with tax consultants
\n\tStrong working knowledge of\u00a0KRA iTax\u00a0system required<\/p>\n
Systems & Internal Controls<\/p>\n
\tPost transactions accurately in accounting software
\n\tMaintain strong internal controls over cash and payments
\n\tEnsure proper documentation and audit trails<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
\n\tCPA (K) Section II or III (CPA III preferred)
\n\tMinimum 6 years\u2019 accounting experience
\n\tExperience in high-volume, transaction-heavy environments
\n\tStrong practical knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and compliance
\n\tExperience in export agriculture is an added advantage<\/p>\n
