Your mission at Sistema.bio:<\/p>\n
This role is responsible to ensure Sistema.bio\u2019s carbon projects are technically robust, compliant with the latest carbon standards, and grounded in conservative, science-based methodologies supporting the successful certification of projects and the timely issuance of high-integrity carbon credits.<\/p>\n
You\u2019ll be in charge of:<\/p>\n
\tEnsuring methodological integrity: ensuring all carbon projects follow the latest approved methodologies and apply conservative, science-based emission reduction factors.
\n\tSupporting certification processes: supporting regional teams in the certification and verification of carbon projects, including leading technical discussions with auditors and carbon standards bodies.
\n\tPreparing project documentation: developing emission reduction (ER) estimates and preparing project Design Documents (PDDs and MADDs) for certification and authorization processes.
\n\tOverseeing technical quality: reviewing the technical work produced by external consultants to ensure accuracy, robustness, and full methodological compliance.
\n\tConducting technical analysis: analyzing carbon methodologies and emission reduction models, including conducting sensitivity analyses to identify key parameters and risks.
\n\tTracking methodological updates: monitoring developments in carbon standards and methodologies and implementing updates to keep projects aligned with evolving requirements.
\n\tAdvising internal stakeholders: communicating methodological updates and their implications for Sistema.bio\u2019s carbon portfolio and operations.
\n\tStrengthening monitoring systems: supporting baseline and monitoring campaigns by advising on sampling approaches, reviewing dMRV data, and improving internal processes for data collection, analysis, and reporting.<\/p>\n
More about YOU:<\/p>\n
\tEducation: Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in environmental policy\/studies, engineering, economics, public policy, or a related field.
\n\tExperience in carbon markets: 5+ years working on carbon projects under standards such as Gold Standard, VERRA, CDM, or similar mechanisms.
\n\tTechnical expertise: strong knowledge of carbon methodologies, emissions accounting, and relevant scientific literature (e.g. IPCC).
\n\tProject documentation: experience preparing technical documents such as PDDs, MADDs, and ER sheets.
\n\tAnalytical skills: strong Excel and modelling skills to analyze emission reduction models and project data.
\n\tProject management:\u00a0ability to manage complex projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and deliver results under tight timelines.<\/p>\n

\tThis is a full-time position based in Nairobi, Kenya. Remote work within Africa may be considered for exceptional candidates.
