Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tFinancial Reporting & Management Accounts
\n\tOwn the monthly close process and production of management accounts to board standard (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
\n\tDeliver clear, commercially focused commentary: performance drivers, risks, and recommended actions
\n\tBuild and maintain financial models that adapt to a high-growth, dynamic environment
\n\tSupport investor and board reporting, including variance analysis and forward-looking commentary
\n\tCash Flow, Treasury & Working Capital
\n\tLead the rolling cash flow forecasting process (minimum 13-week horizon), with scenario planning (base, downside, improvement)
\n\tOwn working capital management end-to-end: payables days, receivables, and cash conversion cycle
\n\tManage banking relationships and day-to-day treasury operations
\n\tTranslate financial performance into cash impact and drive corrective action where needed
\n\tSupplier Strategy & Accounts Payable
\n\tOwn the accounts payable function and supplier payment strategy, including payment scheduling, creditor days management, and supplier prioritisation
\n\tDevelop and maintain a structured approach to supplier payment terms – balancing cash flow constraints with the need to protect key supplier relationships
\n\tLead supplier negotiations on payment terms, rebates, and promotional contributions where appropriate
\n\tMonitor aged creditor positions and ensure timely, accurate supplier statement reconciliations
\n\tBuild systematic processes to replace ad-hoc, relationship-dependent payment practices with disciplined, data-driven approaches
\n\tMargins & Profitability
\n\tDevelop and execute strategies for margin management across product categories, channels, and cost lines
\n\tPartner with commercial and operations teams to identify and close margin leakage
\n\tOversee product costing, promotions analysis, and contribution margin tracking
\n\tCost Control & Operational Finance
\n\tImplement rigorous cost control across all departments without compromising quality or growth
\n\tOversee inventory control processes, supporting stock optimisation, freshness management, and waste reduction – a material P&L driver in online grocery
\n\tMonitor and report on inventory write-offs, expiry, and shrinkage; drive accountability for waste across the operation
\n\tProvide financial insight into key operational decisions – logistics, fulfilment, private label, staffing
\n\tTeam Leadership & Development
\n\tLead a finance team of approximately 10 people, including senior accountants and junior finance staff
\n\tSet clear objectives and conduct regular performance reviews
\n\tBuild capability within the team – coaching, upskilling, and creating clear development paths
\n\tEstablish a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
\n\tSystems, Automation & Master Data
\n\tOwn financial master data and be a core architect of Greenspoon\u2019s data standards
\n\tWork with the ERP Consultant and IT resource to continuously improve Microsoft Dynamics reporting and workflows
\n\tDrive automation of key finance processes; be proactive in identifying and implementing AI and digital tools to reduce manual effort and increase accuracy
\n\t\u00a0Compliance, Audit & Controls
\n\tManage the external audit relationship (currently Grant Thornton) and ensure the business is audit-ready at all times
\n\tEnsure compliance with all Kenyan regulatory requirements: VAT, Withholding Tax, Corporate Tax, and statutory filings
\n\tDesign and maintain pragmatic financial controls appropriate for a fast-moving, high-growth environment
\n\tFlag risks early and propose practical remediation<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
\tCPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification, plus a Bachelor\u2019s degree in a business-related field
\n\t5+ years of experience in chaotic, high growth & complex working environments with ownership on (part of the) finance function
\n\tHands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics (or a comparable ERP); comfort navigating and improving financial systems<\/p>\n
