The Lead Marine Painter \/ Paint Inspector provides oversight, instruction, and supervision to Painters and Painter Helpers.<\/p>\n
Principal Accountabilities<\/p>\n
\tOversee and coordinate schedule on service work orders
\n\tPerforms the abrasive blasting, priming, and painting of surfaces
\n\tApplies primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces for surface coating\/paint
\n\tInventories, controls and properly stores all necessary paint, solvents, and abrasives
\n\tInventories, controls and maintains all painting equipment and tools
\n\tLeads the paint shop team during all work performed
\n\tAssists in determining parts, supplies, and material requirements for job accomplishment
\n\tParticipates with the on-the-job training of junior shop personnel
\n\tAssists in the writing safety anaylsis for each job
\n\tEnsure team operates in compliance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) system\u2019s and Hazardous Material storage
\n\tEnsure the paint shop team wears the appropriate PPE for the assigned tasks at all times
\n\tPerforms other duties as assigned<\/p>\n
Knowledge & Skills<\/p>\n
\tWorking knowledge on the application of paint\/surface coatings
\n\tKnowledge of measuring surface area to provide accurate estimate of product needed for each job
\n\tAbility to follow all safety requirements, policies, procedures and guidelines
\n\tAbility to lead a team and create a positive work environment
\n\tKnowledge of and ability to perform proper surface preparation by abrasive blasting and mechanical means
\n\tFamiliarity working with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) systems
\n\tKnowledgeable working with hazardous material and its proper storage
\n\tAdditional knowledge\/skills may be required by contract or assignment<\/p>\n
Experience & Education<\/p>\n
\tHigh school diploma or equivalent
\n\tFive (5) years\u2019 experience in paint preparation, painting, sanding and scuffing or related field
\n\tTwo (2) years experience working in a supervisory role
\n\tPossess a valid driver\u2019s license with acceptable driving record
\n\tCompletion of an Industrial\/Commercial painting training program preferred
\n\tAdditional experience\/education may be required by contract or assignment<\/p>\n
