Core Duties<\/p>\n
\tOverseeing the day-to-day activities of the finance team and ensuring that the company’s finance function is organized and efficient to produce accurate financial and management accounts.
\n\tWorking closely with the MD and heading up the day to day financial activities including; preparation of month end accounts, all compliance returns, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments, year-end statutory accounts, payroll and the management of accounts receivables.
\n\tSetting and checking targets and monitoring the performance of each department within the business in line with their set budgets.
\n\tImplementing and maintaining all financial controls and systems within the business, identifying and recommending potential operational inefficiencies and improvements to working practices and procedures this would include Financial and business.
\n\tPreparation and management of annual budgets, forecasts and cash flows\u00a0and\u00a0management of the entity\u2019s statutory audit.<\/p>\n
Financial Reporting;<\/p>\n
\tResponsible for overseeing the review, design, implementation and maintenance of internal controls relevant to the preparation and fair presentation of financial statements.
\n\tLeading teams in preparing monthly management accounts within 8 days of end month, plus preparation of annual financial Statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.
\n\tPreparation of trial balance and financial accounts in line with International standards for auditing purposes within (20) days of the end of the accounting year for the company.<\/p>\n
Budgeting and Forecasting;<\/p>\n
\tEnsuring that the entity has a formally prepared and approved budget for the Financial Year in place.
\n\tPrimarily responsible for the preparation of the finance department budget and consolidation of departmental budgets.
\n\tEnsuring that the board approves prepared budgets, as well as reviewing quarterly prepared budgets, to check compliance.
\n\tMonitoring of the prepared budgets to ensure that spend is per budget, as well as analyzing and explaining causes of variances \/ deviations, if any, from budgeted figures.<\/p>\n
General Accounting;<\/p>\n
\tOverall month end closure activities, including various reconciliations to ensure that management reports are submitted within 8 working days of the month end.
\n\tReview, design, implementation and maintenance internal controls relevant to the preparation and fair presentation of financial statements that are free from material misstatement.
\n\tFacilitating the management of financial analysis and cost accounting, as well as conducting risk management and internal audits.
\n\tPreparing cash flow forecasts for ongoing operations and feed them into the cash flow projection.<\/p>\n
Taxation and Tax Planning;<\/p>\n
\tKey contact on all local laws and regulations for tax and compliance purposes.
\n\tOffer guidance in the monthly preparation and submission of the company\u2019s PAYE, VAT and withholding tax through the iTax system and subsequent payments of the amounts submitted to the KRA.
\n\tIn charge of review of company\u2019s monthly payroll, as well as preparing of monthly payroll statutory deductions such as NSSF, NHIF and PAYE for payment within statutory deadlines.
\n\tPreparing quarterly VAT and PAYE returns and submitting these within statutory deadlines.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tBachelor of Commerce degree (Finance \/ Accounting).
\n\tCPA (K) or ACCA Final.\u00a0
\n\t5 or more years\u2019 of experience.
\n\tKnowledge of tax laws and regulations.
\n\tFinancial planning and management.
\n\tDevelopment of policies and procedures.
\n\tBudgeting and budgetary control.
\n\tCommunication and decision making skills and Problem solving skills.
\n\tWork organisation and coordination skills.
\n\tStaff management, development and discipline skills.<\/p>\n
