The overall purpose of this job is to develop, implement, and maintain the firm’s risk management, quality and compliance frameworks. The role ensures the firm identifies, assesses, mitigates, and monitors strategic, operational, regulatory, information security, and engagement-level risks, while supporting a strong risk and quality culture aligned with Grant Thornton\u2019s global standards.<\/p>\n

\tAdvise client facing teams on obligations under Kenya\u2019s Data Protection Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) regulations, International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) Code, and other compliance frameworks.
\n\tDevelop, implement, and operate the firm\u2019s System of Quality Management (SoQM) in line with ISQM1
\n\tMonitor implementation of the Quality Management Manual (QMM) and service-line manuals\u00a0
\n\tPerform ISQM 1 control implementation testing.
\n\tParticipate in proposal reviews to ensure risk, independence, and compliance requirements are met.
\n\tSupport internal and external quality reviews affecting client engagements.
\n\tDevise a firm\u2011wide quality review framework ensuring consistent standards, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across the organization.
\n\tIdentify & evaluate deficiencies in the System of Quality Management & design actions to remedy identified deficiencies with relevant service line leaders.
\n\tCommunicate & provide training on identified deficiencies and remedial actions to relevant personnel.
\n\tPromote the principles of professional ethics under the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA)
\n\tTrack and address internal and external audit findings including those from Grant Thornton Audit Review (GTAR) and Internal Quality Review (IQR.)
\n\tLiaison with Grant Thornton International on global standards .
\n\tUpdate risk policies and procedures to ensure compliance with emerging laws.
\n\tRespond to risk-related queries and provide timely guidance.
\n\tConduct periodic risk assessments, compliance reviews, and internal audits.
\n\tServe as the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Officer and report identified money laundering concerns to the Quality Records Management Committee. QRMC.
\n\tConsult on the withdrawal of an audit opinion and restatement of previously issued financial statements.
\n\tFacilitate the resolution of differences of opinion when resolution cannot be obtained within engagement teams.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Risk Management, LLB, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Security, or a related field.
\n\tProfessional qualifications in Law, CPA, ACCA, CISA, CRM or equivalent.
\n\tMinimum 7 years of experience in risk management, compliance, internal audit, or related fields.
\n\tMinimum 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
\n\tExperience in a professional services firm (Audit ,Tax or Advisory firm) is an added advantage.
\n\tStrong knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks including Data Protection Act, AML regulations, and ISQM standards.
\n\tStrong organizational and time management skills.
\n\tExcellent written and verbal communication skills.
\n\tStrong attention to detail and analytical skills.
