The Environmental Health and Safety Officer will ensure inspection and implementation and evaluation of the work environment, equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards. The goal for the role is to protect the employees, customers and the environment from any life hazard.<\/p>\n
Role and Responsibilities;<\/p>\n
Work requirements and tasks will be guided by the laid down policies and procedures which will be reviewed periodically but will fall broadly in the following Key Performance Areas:<\/p>\n
Environmental Health & Safety<\/p>\n
\tEnsure safety compliance to safety standards, both at the organization;
\n\tIdentify potentially hazardous biological, chemical and radiological materials and collect samples of them for analysis;
\n\tOffer technical support to safety requirements and advisory to the management on safety issues;
\n\tInvestigate accidents to identify their causes and find ways to prevent them in the future;
\n\tCarry out daily, weekly, monthly and annual inspections to all company assets and premises on as is where applicable to ensure safety;
\n\tCarrying out surveillance and certifications audits towards ISO standards that the company is subscribed to;
\n\tRisk assessments, safety analyses and mitigations; ensure WIBA, DOSH and OSHA compliance for all incidences;
\n\tCoordinating of various contracts associated with the admin & Safety department as far as services provisions and supply is concerned;
\n\tCoordinate the purchase, proper use, maintenance, and inspection of necessary safety and personal protective equipment;
\n\tPrepare applicable EHS reports as necessary
\n\tProvide assistance and advice on EHS issues to make recommendations to facility management.
\n\tOffer technical support to teams working at various stations to ensure safety is enhanced.
\n\tCoordinate various safety and health trainings for the teams.
\n\tOversight responsibility towards resources use and optimizations to ensure sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
\n\tLinkage with statutory bodies and the business in terms compliance and advisory.
\n\tResponsible for conducting environment and health related CSR activities such as tree planting\u00a0on a quarterly basis;
\n\tAny other roles allocated by line manager and or organisation<\/p>\n
Facility Specific Responsibilities;<\/p>\n
\tWrite, implement, and manage EHS Programs Policies and Procedures.
\n\tPerform facility EHS inspections;
\n\tTo oversee Hazardous Waste Storage area and ensure regulatory agency compliance i.e. labeling, containment, proper disposal, documentation, etc.;
\n\tHave knowledge and enforce compliance of regulatory requirements (e.g.. OSHA), including company EHS policies and procedures;
\n\tAssist in emergency response and provide first aid treatment;
\n\tOversee Behavior Based \/ Observation Safety Programs;
\n\tHelp develop Job Hazard Analysis (JHA);
\n\tAny other roles allocated by line manager and or organisation;<\/p>\n
Experience Profile;<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Environmental science, Occupational Health and
\n\tSafety, or a related field;
\n\t6\u20138 years of experience in EHS roles is a must;
\n\tRelevant EHS&S Certifications;
\n\tExperience working in manufacturing and or industrial sectors;
\n\tFamiliarity with EHS&S software systems;
\n\tStrong understanding of EHS management systems (such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001);
\n\tExperience in designing and implementing policies and procedures in line with local and international standards;
\n\tSkilled in developing and maintaining environmental and safety compliance programs;<\/p>\n
