Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tImport & Export Operations
\n\tCoordinate all import shipments from order placement to final delivery.
\n\tLiaise with suppliers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and clearing agents to ensure timely clearance.
\n\tEnsure full compliance with KRA Customs (iCMS), KEBS, PVOC, Port Health, KEPHIS, and all regulatory bodies.
\n\tTrack shipments and provide updated ETAs to relevant departments.
\n\tDocumentation & Compliance
\n\tPrepare and verify import\/export documents including invoices, packing lists, BL\/AWB, and certificates of origin.
\n\tReview customs entries for correct HS code classification, valuation, duty, and tax application.
\n\tMaintain proper documentation for audits, compliance checks, and internal controls.
\n\tCosting, Pricing & Product Mix Management
\n\tPerform accurate landed cost calculations for imported goods.
\n\tSupport management in setting product prices and discounts based on landed cost, competitor analysis, and margin targets.
\n\tAnalyze the product mix to identify high-margin, fast-moving, low-margin, and slow-moving SKUs.
\n\tEvaluate the impact of import-related expenses (freight, duty, handling, port fees, demurrage, storage, forex fluctuations) on pricing decisions.
\n\tRecommend sourcing or pricing adjustments to maintain competitiveness.
\n\tProvide detailed category performance analysis\u2014revenue, margins, volume, and stock turnover.
\n\tInventory & Supplier Management
\n\tMaintain optimal inventory levels and prevent stock outs or overstocking of imported goods.
\n\tWork with procurement and warehouse teams to manage inbound stock.
\n\tNegotiate with service providers (freight forwarders, clearing agents, shipping lines) for competitive terms.
\n\tMonitor supplier performance, import lead times, and cost variances.
\n\tFinancial & Operational Reporting
\n\tPrepare and share monthly reports on landed costs, import expenses, duty payments, and stock position.
\n\tProvide insights on cost drivers and improvement opportunities.
\n\tSupport audit processes with accurate documentation.
\n\tTrack and report monthly category KPIs and performance against targets.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, International Trade, or related field.
\n\t2\u20133 years\u2019 experience in import\/export operations, preferably in retail, FMCG, or manufacturing.
\n\tStrong knowledge of Kenyan customs processes, iCMS, HS codes, tariffs, and regulatory requirements.
\n\tExperience in landed cost calculations and supporting product pricing decisions.
\n\tAdvanced knowledge of product mix analysis, including category performance, margin evaluation, stock turnover, and pricing impact.
\n\tIT proficiency: Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
\n\tERP knowledge \u2013 intermediate level.<\/p>\n
